I took my family today to the luray zoo. Only animals out were 2 monkeys a couple big bids and some goats. I felt like I spent $25 yup feed some Damn goats. On top of all that I even got bit by one. Was really hoping for a percentage of the 250 so called animals they say they have.

This place really surprised me. We were looking for something to do after seeing the Caverns. This is really a micro-zoo that houses lots of rescue animals. The largest was a tiger, but still it was a wonderful experience. You get very close to all the animals, closer than you would in a large zoo. Plenty of birds, snakes, smaller... More

Our group of 2 adults and 3 children were lucky enough to be able to get reservations for the after hours private Discovery Tour. We were going to be in the area one night only and were thrilled when Christie emailed to tell us there had been a cancellation (great customer service!). This is a very small rescue zoo with... We are die hard animal fans, and never miss a change to go to a zoo or sanctuary. I agree with the other reviewers about Mark's (facility owner) passion for his animals and knowledge about the same. You can tell that the budget is pretty tight - but the animals seem really well cared for and happy. Most of the... More

Near the caverns and museums. I recommend also checking out this zoo if you have children. They will love it. You can get closer than most zoos.

The owner, Mark is extremely nice, well informed and passionate about the care of his animals. He also is into falconry. The admission is only $10.00 for adults. I would pay that much just to see the reptiles there. More types of snakes than I've ever seen. Also turtles. Lizards, gators and a tarantula. There's a beautiful tigress, monkeys, a... More

This is a small zoo and obviously an ongoing work in progress. The rescued animals have little stories that give you insight into where they came from and how they ended up there. The owner is very passionate about his work and you can tell he loves the animals. Kids would enjoy feeding the goats at the petting zoo part.... More

First and foremost, this is a rescue zoo run by owners who have re-homed animals from owners who could no longer keep them, afford them, etc. I agree with previous posters and commend the owners for trying to maintain a zoo which I imagine is challenging and expensive in its own right, and I think they're doing a great job... We took our 13 month old son here while on vacation. It's a great little zoo. You are much closer to the animals than at many other, larger zoos. Our son especially loved watching the tiger and excitedly pointed at many of the animals. The petting zoo section was also a hit with him. He loved being face to face... More

First, let me say I that I respect and admire the owners, this is a family run rescue and the owners have put their heart and souls and a lot of their time in to running it. This zoo is a rescue, with many "unwanted" pets who now have a place to call home. We did the after hours guided... More
