If you are looking for the typical big zoo you will be disappointed. We were driving from PA to SC and were looking for things to do along the way. When I found the website for Luray Zoo and saw that it was a rescue zoo I knew that we had to stop. This is a small zoo with a... More

Visted Luray zoo while visiting the luray area. This is a rescue zoo so it is not a real large zoo, but is definitely worth visiting. You will see alot of snakes that you probably have never seen before . I seen a cobra , which totally freaked me out. It also has monkeys, birds, turtles. . a tiger and... More

Nice little zoo. It's nice that they are a rescue zoo. Just that the animals seem to have small cages with little enrichment. Even if the animals don't "need" it, it would be nicer for visitors to look at. And I still believe even snakes and turtles would appreciate a more interesting environment than a plain square box.

I appreciate that this is a rescue zoo, first of all. But...it is very small, and a little run down. There are more reptiles than anything. The kookaburra was the most memorable animal, and the tiger didn't seem extremely active. All in all, it was "ok", but not great.

Me and my fiancée took our niece there. It was fun and we enjoyed it, would be nicer with a few more animals and a more diverse petting zoo. The monkey show was exciting and you could tell when it was time, they got excited and knew they were going to be given treats. The petting zoo was nice, you... More

I took my granddaughter here last summer and it was such a nice experience for her. She was 2 years old at the time. They have more snakes than I have ever see in my life! They also have a nice assortment of animals and they have an area where you can feed the goats and my granddaughter even brushed... More

My sons (15, 12) and I came to see the Luray Zoo after we visited Luray Caverns earlier in the day. We ate a picnic lunch at the picnic table in the parking lot and then headed in to the zoo. As soon as we got in to the first exhibit, a man struck up a conversation with us. In... More

If you are looking for a standard zoo, then this is not the place. It is however a delightful visit. Low budget, always in states of repair and run by caring people. The animals are clean and close for viewing. The kids can pet and feed a donkey, llamas and goats. The reptile section is interesting. Other animals were a... More

We drove an hour and a half to go here, and I was sorely disappointed. It was $25 for 2 adults and 1 child, so I wasn't expecting a lot but this was utterly ridiculous, the zoo took 10 minutes to completely see everything. A majority of the few animals they had were not even visible. I have never written... More

I had to keep reminding myself that this is a rescue zoo and not your usual better funded zoo. Admission was only $5 each that day - a half price day - and we made a donation when we left because $5 seemed an inadequate contribution to the zoo's expenses. It had been raining, and the path was muddy. Star... More
