Owner description: Ten Thousand Waves is inspired by the great Japanese mountain hot spring resorts. Ten minutes from downtown Santa Fe, but only minutes from the National Forest, there is nothing quite like this on the North American continent. Among pinons and junipers are beautiful outdoor hot tubs and spa suites, world-class bodywork & skin care, and the amazing izanami restaurant. For a lucky few, it is the closest lodging to the Santa Fe Ski area.

I usually only review hotels, but this place deserves to be highlighted as a "not to missed" experience. More than a spa, you will feel like you are in the Japanese Alps at one of its best onsens. Am sure all the treatments are wonderful, but the tubs, saunas, tatami mat relaxing room, general ambiance and next door restaurant are... More

This is a must see when visiting Santa Fe..it's a Japanese retreat in the mountains.. you can go in the day or evening..they have beautiful private or public Japanese tubs/saunas/ and are fabulous. They have also many types of different massages by masters, and a great facial..when in the evening it's wonderful looking at up at the stars and very... More

We needed recharging after the crazy holiday season. My daughter and I chose to stay at 10000 waves this year. We normally go to a spa in Sonoma. The accommodations were very comfortable. The room (high Moon) was wonderful. The bath had a deep soaking tub and a rain shower head. It had a bidet with a heated seats. How... More

When Trip Advisor starts reviewing spas on other planets, Ten Thousand Waves might just still be my favorite. I've been going since it was a few hot tubs up on a hill and even now that it has expanded to what must be a large operation, I've always said it's the most peaceful place of business I've ever been to.

The experience at thousand waves spa is unparalleled. We didn't stay on the premises but scheduled a deluxe hot and cold bath with dry sauna. We had a private area all to ourselves with a great view of the surrounding wood lands. From the jacuzzi to the freezing plunge pool and back and forth to the sauna, we felt pampered... More

I visited the spa yesterday to relax and enjoy the community spa. It was obvious leaving the men's changing that there were noisy children yelling in the spa. As is typically the case, the parents were oblivious, allowing their children to continue. I stayed thirty minutes and left. It was a total disappointment. I wish I had stayed home and... More

Half of the pools were closed for renovation - we found out only after paying. Couples, children...everyone in fighting for a apot a tiny tub. Staff is borderline rude, cannot spend more that a few seconds if you ask them something. Not really Japanese, once you pass the gift shop. A truly mass experience. The locals do not come here... Very good customer service. The organic Japanese facial left me glowing. I was surprised by the optional clothing policy in the tubs and saunas.

This was my 3rd visit since 1992; I wish I could get to Santa Fe, and Ten Thousand Waves, more often. My first visit was simply sublime, and the facility has improved and expanded since then. Everything -- showers, tubs, saunas, treatment rooms -- is clean and encourages a sense of serenity. The prices for treatments are on the high... More

We have been coming to 10,000 Waves for about 10 years and always enjoy the scenery and services. Set high above Santa Fe the spa is isolated from outside influences. We have always received first rate attention and quality service.
