Great "stretch break" on the high road to Taos.

I wouldn't recommend this being your sole destination, but if you're driving the High Road to Taos this makes for a great break in that drive (coming from Albuquerque). The hike... read more

Today we joined the ranks of people who have attempted to visit Nambe Falls only to find a "closed for the season" sign at the end of the lengthy off-the-beaten-path road. Extremely disappointing. Spend the day at Bandolier instead.

Although the web site says the falls are open, we took the drive this Friday, August 8, and they were closed. Yes, we called the info line. Yes, the recording said the falls were open. No, there was no sign saying the falls were closed at the beginning of the road. That would have been too considerate. We had to... More

This is really outside of Santa Fe, a little drive. They are not the most impressive falls in the world, but they can't all be, can they? It is a beautiful wilderness and a nice little hike. Could be steep for some. We enjoyed it very much. We would have stayed longer, but it was a stop along the way... More

The scenery on the way to the falls is really nice. The 15 minute hike to the overlook is a bit steep but very pleasant. The falls themselves are not very impressive. Worth the trip but not as interesting as tent rocks or Ghost Ranch.

We heard about this place from a friend and I have to say, my husband and I had no idea there was such a great camping spot so close to us (in Albuquerque)! It is just a couple of streets past Buffalo Thunder resort and then 8 miles up the trail to the ranger station. Nambe offers many great campsites,... More

The last I heard, the lake was still closed. A forest fire in the watershed has resulted in a continuing flow of debris into the lake. They dredged the lake once, and it filled again. However, the debris settles in the lake, so the waterfall and the ponds and the stream are all clear. You hike up the stream and... More

We saw their website and thought it would be an easy & nice visit during our recent trip to Santa Fe. We paid our $10/car fee at the entrance to a friendly ranger and drove to the parking lot. We hiked about 10 minute to reach the overlook of the falls, which is an interesting view in the middle of... More

I wouldn't recommend this being your sole destination, but if you're driving the High Road to Taos this makes for a great break in that drive (coming from Albuquerque). The hike is short, but it is quite amazing to see such a sight in the midst of high desert country. I'd also recommend calling ahead to make sure it's open.... More

Nambe Falls and the creek it forms are great for a refreshing dip. Even toddlers can enjoy the shallow water. Beautiful!

Nambé Fall is under the dam but its still great to see this much water in New Mexico. We went during the week in the summer and it was not crowded at all. The gate person was really friendly and helpful and they did not charge for the camera (got lucky). The overlook hike to the right of the water... More
