This western ranch, and the two others in the area, are commercial businesses that are available to hire for films, corporate events, weddings etc. It is not open to the public, however I see that some people have had a bit of luck in that respect and got in on a slack day. Lucky them!

I was rather disappointed. Turned out to be more of a history lesson of the old west than anything really about movie/ production filmed there. Only got to go into a few buildings. Michael who took us around said that he isn't really around when any filming is being done, so he could not say much about that when any... More

My son knew Mrs. Hughes from filmmaking, so we decided to go up there and look around. It is so interesting--both for it's authentic western buildings and flavor, but also after your visit you'll recognize these buildings in such films as 3:10 to Yuma, Lonesome Dove, Walker Texas Ranger, Young Guns, and Wild Hogs. You will have a ball visiting... More

Called on a whim and Imogene Hughes, owner of Bonanza Creek Ranch, arranged a tour for us. Our guide Michael H conducted an excellent tour of the movie set. He provided insight into the history of the ranch, the movie sets, and movie production (from story boarding to filming to editing)… I highly recommend a visit to Bonanza Creek Ranch.

What a wonderful and different thing to do! We saw a few reviews on tripadvisor and decided to give it a shot. We called and the owner set us up with a tour with Jack, a real movie star! You would recognize him as Cholo in Lonsesome Dove and many other parts in western movies. He met us at the... More

Had read the couple of reviews here on Tripadvisor and on our way from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and exited at Exit 271 & found the ranch. We truly lucked out that the owner, Imogene Hughes, was driving out of the ranch & talked to her--what a lovely lady! We set up a tour for a few days from then... More

Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch has been the "set" for movies since the first "movie town" was built for "Silverado" and rebuilt for the TV series "Lucky Luke." There is a "movie town" that you might recognize from "Silverado" in 1983 or "Cowboys and Aliens" or dozens of movies in between. Each production essentially redesigns the town to meet the period...
