This is the place recommended to us for all the fishing needs while in Santa Fe. We rented the equipment and bought the fishing license here as well. They offered us good advice on where to fish including urban fishing in SF and fly-fishing in Pecos Wilderness in Santa Fe National Forest. There prices were high for us for just... More

Husband and daughter were looking to fly fish on our trip to Santa Fe. Booked a trip with High Desert Angler. Norman took them out and between the two of them, they caught almost 30 fish. They both were grinning from ear to ear, even though they finished the trip in rain and hail.

Was in same group as Rex W. Rex was the one that caught the monster brown trout. We all had a great time, everybody caught fish. Our group varied from little to zero experience fly fishing. Parker worked with our part of the group. He was perfect. Very knowledgeable. Helpful without being in the way. Would recommend him as a... More

Spent a wonderful day on the Pecos fly fishing. Our party of 5 were guided by Parker and Everett. We all caught fish, some as large as 22 inches. Would differently return and recommend this shop for future trips.

I have been a regular shopper at High Desert Angler in Santa Fe for years now. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are helpful in all aspects of fly fishing...fresh, salt, trout or tarpon. Great selection of gear (especially flies...not just the latest "fads" but flies that catch fish) and helpful assistance in getting you outfitted properly. They know the water...local,... More

Walked in today july 21 and was totally ignored by the clerk who was handling the shop that day. He was dealing with a customer that was complaining about the drag on his reel. The clerk never acknowledged that we entered the shop nor made any attempt to make us feel welcomed. I have been to this shop before (even... More

Looks like they had a great selection of flies. Staff was very helpful as well. Too bad it was raining out! So we had a to settle on a hat and head back to the hotel for the day. Looks like we will have to come back!

Ive depended on High Desert Angler each year for advice on fly fishing the Pecos River, just outside Santa Fe. This year, after getting skunked one day, I decided to hire a guide. On a recommendation from a local, I went into High Desert Angler, and the next day my guide, Tom, and I spent a half day on the... More

My bf and I just returned from Santa Fe. The highlight of the trip was learning how to fly fish through High Desert Angler. We booked a full day on private land. Despite the fires and forest closures, we were still able to fish on the Pecos because of the private land accommodations. Ed, the manager at High Desert was... More
