Took the drive just past peak fall season. Leaves were off, but the views were still beautiful. I went in the late afternoon. The road was windy, curvy. I was not comfortable going the full speed limit at times, Other drivers tended to tail me until I could find an appropriate spot to pull over. The sunset was outstanding all the... More

This park was easy reach and drive through. There were many places to pull over and enjoy the scenery. The road was well maintained. It looked like there were many camping sites & hiking trails.

This park is convenient in that it is close to Santa Fe and to hiking trails, which is the reason we chose it. Our tent site was spacious with a good tent pad. We had a difficult time finding our site, there was no map posted on the bulletin boards and the office was closed as was the visitor center.... More

Hyde Park is just 7-miles out of Santa Fe so it's like being close enough to the plaza and miles away at the same time. Spectacular trees, a nice variety of sites. Great for tent camping. Bring your own water! No running water. Trails are fantastic. Host has fire wood available. You can make reservations but even near labor day... More

I think it's about 4 miles roundtrip. Not too steep going up, but a nice little workout. The forest was pretty. We went with our dogs and they did very well. Would have liked more time to check out the other trails as well!

Spent a week in Santa Fe and went four times here! First day, did the scenic drive up to the Ski Lodge. Day two, biked the 14 1/2 miles to the Ski Lodge. Third day, hiked the trail starting at mile marker 13 to Tesugue Peak, and fourth day, biked again up to the Ski Lodge. Along the way, we... More

We've spent a lot of time at Hyde over the years. It is beautiful, quiet during the weeks, and the rangers are wonderful. While you won't see showers or flush toilets, it keeps things quiet and keeps the riff raff out. The park's infrastructure (site areas, fences, lean-tos, etc.) are impressive and well kept. The views from the West Circle... More

Drive all the way up...don't stop at Hyde Park until your drive back down. Check the overlook at the very top. We had two kids, and we had on flip flops so hiking wasn't an option. For hikers, I think this is steep ...don't quote me but the trail seemed quite steep and sandy/slippery. Not for kids under 12??? But... More

The drive is beautiful but the trails are not well marked so we drove past our original destination and ended much higher up. It is beautiful forest just to drive through so it wasn't a waste of time. We stopped at the park office to ask questions but no one was there (on a Saturday). If there were bathrooms we... More

The drive from Santa Fe was the best part. Each site does have electricity but the entire section must share 1 water faucet. No shower facilities that I know of. The service was disappointing. The dump station is locked all the time. I asked the camp host for help. He declined and said it was not time. Would not stay... More
