For over 25 years Outdoor Odysseys has been offering quality guided sea kayaking and whale watch tours in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. Our tours feature opportunities to see killer whales and eagles while paddling, we offer great camp cuisine including Dutch oven cookery and guides that are mature (average age is 29), fun and professional. In 2009 we were selected by National Geographic Adventure Magazine as one of the "200 best outfitters" in the world.

We just completed a highly adventurous 3 day orcas and eagles trip with Outdoor Odysseys and enjoyed our experience immensely! The first day we paddled to the north of Jones Island, stopping along the way for lunch where we were greeted by a bald eagle and harbor seals. Knowing that the forecast showed high winds and rain, our guides Nikken... More

I recently did the 3 day orcas and eagles trip and had a great time. Our guide, Nikken was very informative, helpful, and a fantastic cook. She really seemed to go the extra mile to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. I also liked how environmentally sensitive the company is. Recycling, composting, minimizing water use, etc.... More

Highly recommended. My family (me, wife, 7 year old son, and grandfather) paddled with Outdoor Odysseys on their "orcas and Eagles" tour located on the west side of San Juan Island. Our guide Jennifer was outstanding with our youngest boy and was even more impressive with her knowledge of the local marine flora and fauna. Our close up experience with... More

When you sign up for a kayaking/whale watching excursion, pretty much one thing is going to make or break your experience: did you see a whale? From that point, your happiness is proportionate to how CLOSE you get to a whale. On our trip, we not only saw whales, we got extremely close. But I have to say, even if... More

Last summer we did a multi-day kayaking adventure with Outdoor Odysseys and we have been talking about it ever since. The San Juan Islands are best seen by boat and this is a truly amazing opportunity to explore, disconnect, and be on the water. Our guides were very knowledgable, kind, and really great to get to know. They made us... More

Spent three days with my wife and two great friends as part of a overall group of 13 folks and two guides. Well organized, good attention to detail with respect to gear, safety etc. We paddled up the west side of San Juan island, stopped for lunch at a nice beach, then continued on to Stuart Island. We camped at... More

After reading a few negative reviews before my 4 day kayak/camp combo, I was a little nervous about embarking on this excursion. I was scared that I would be a sucky paddler, that I wouldn't be able to keep up, that I'd have a guide that wouldn't want to take breaks, etc.... AND I HAD AN AMAZING TIME. We spent... More

My husband and I did the 2 day kayak trip for our 8th anniversary! Our guide Margaux was friendly and fun! We had a small group of 7 total (including guide) which was really nice! This was our first time kayaking, I have a terrible fear of being in a small boat on the open water, but I became very... More

Intense on many levels. We went 7/18 hoping to see orcas and we were not disappointed. It was intense in a few different ways: seeing orcas right in front of your kayak, and having them swim under you is a crazy experience (and apparently not too common). It was also intense because it's a lot of work. Kayaking on the... More
