My wife and I very much enjoyed our evening sail on Spike Africa, a nicely restored wood ketch. We were invited to bring along wine and snacks which added to the pleasure of sailing through the islands as the sun was setting. This was our single most enjoyable outing during our three days at Friday Harbor.

We wrapped up our San Juan Trip with a sunset cruise on the Spike Africa. From the time I confirmed our sail to the actual night of, EVERYONE was AMAZING. The Spike Africa is BEAUTIFUL. The crew is AWESOME. You can bring your own snacks/drinks on board. It's perfect for couples to big groups. It truly IS a San Juan... More

WE went on the sunset cruise and had a great time!!! Bring your own picnic, the sail was amazing, we had wine and cheese and chatted with the other couples on the trip. The captain was professional and informative, the boat is gorgeous and has a rich history! We saw porpoise and harbor seals and had a gorgeous sunset!!! We... More

We did the evening sail, and had a great time. Beautiful boat, spectacular scenery, relaxing way to spend the evening. The crew was great, very relaxed, and they taught us a ton about sailing and about the boat itself. I thought it was a pretty fair price, too!

We chartered the Spike Africa for a week long sailing/camping excursion for our Boy Scout troop. I am active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and know boating well. I'm also a manager at one of our country's largest banks, so I know customer service. The vessel and crew were exceptional in every regard. They are extremely polite and accommodating. Nothing... Its all about the experience of being on a nice sailboat. Its sailors out sailing with passengers aboard. If you want tour guide narration with severs distributing drinks this is not for you. If you want to see what its lIke in a sailboat then its great. I liked it just because of the quiet and the scenery. One great... More

The Spike Africa is beautiful........the scenery of the San Juan Islands is gorgeous. We had such a great time. The Captain and crew of the Spike Africa were friendly and knowledgeable. The Captain was so charismatic.........even let us take the wheel. We were very lucky to have excellent weather conditions that day because you cannot control mother nature. When the... More

We went out on a 6 hour tour on the Sea Pirate. There was no wind and thus we did not sail but motored around at a very tedious and slow pace. All in all it made for a quite boring 6 hours and actually I was wishing we would just return to the dock after the first two hours.... More

OK, you have to understand we're landlubbers from Colorado and rarely get to enjoy messing around on boats, so this was a little intimidating from the beginning. Luckily the dismal weather forecast turned out to be completely wrong as did any doubts we might have had about sailing on the beautiful ketch "Sea Witch". There were only four passengers aboard... The San Juan Islands are the gem of the West coast. Spectacular views, abundant wildlife , and generally very laid back. We wanted to charter a half day sailboat trip with a few couples that would give us an offshore view of San Juan Island. We found Schooners North on the web and talked with them a few times before...
