My boyfriend was visiting from Arkansas & had heard about kayaking with the whales. We made it a point to read reviews before we booked. Our guide Kelton was fantastic! A very easy going young man who talked to you more like a friend than a guide. Full of knowledge about the under water animals we were about to encounter... More

I called 2 times to make sure guides knew our time frame for ferries. The guides knew nothing about our time constraints . I ordered 2 t- shirts, 1 large, 1 small . They had only large and extra large available in our van. I loved the experience, but I did expect more in terms of information for the novice.... More

It was fun and quite the workout, and I am in reasonably good condition. Our guide was congenial and skilled, although I could have used some (any) assistance adjusting the controls of the kayak to fit my leg length. Throughout the entire afternoon, I never felt like they were appropriately adjusted which added significantly to the workout. One of my... More

Three old friends and I, all turning 50 this year decided to go on the 3-day, 2-night excursion, travelling in from the East Coast. We decided on this after looking at the data provided by Seaquest regarding historical orca sightings. We knew there was no guarantee we would see orcas. It was a risk we were willing to take. We... Their website really advertises how you will see Orca's and that you will be kayaking right along their feeding grounds for two whole days, and get to go on a hike to a beautiful light house. None of these things occured. We were stuck on the east side of the island where the Orcas do not normally go. We spent... More

This June & July we have succeeded in finding orcas on 86% of our camping tours and we feel like we’ve lived up to our commitment of doing our best to locate whales for all of our guests. Your complaint regarding whales is difficult to reconcile when your group observed a pod of orcas on the first day of your... More

I can't say enough about our guides, Eric and Franny. Eric, our lead, always had a smile, started us off with a fun "name game" to get everyone acquainted, and the word "no" was apparently not in his vocabulary. Franny was extremely knowledgeable, and equally friendly. We had five kids in our group, from age 8 to 11, and both... More

This excursion did not meet our expectations. We had a poor experience with what appeared to be no sense of urgency to see the whales and a complete lack of cleanliness . We realized that this was a camping trip, an outdoor excursion but some things were completely unacceptable . I even took the time to ask and speak with... More

I am the “so-called” founder so I will address this complaint. On rare occasions we receive a guest that simply should not participate in a kayak camping tour. We trust our guests to read our website and pre-trip information to judge whether kayaking is suitable for them. Our website clearly states: “Our sea kayaking trips are rated “moderate” for overall... More

We booked a 2 day, overnight trip over the 4th of July weekend with friends. The weather and water conditions cooperated beautifully and we actually saw Orca whales on both days. As many others have said, the guides are a huge part of what make these trips successful and we could not have asked for a better guide than Tim.... More

The beautiful water and mostly calm conditions made for a pretty idyllic kayak trip. Sea Quest got everything about right, especially their choice of guide 'Charlie' who put more than 100 percent in and made the whole experience that much more inspiring and enlightening. On a practical level the kit (kayaks, tents ) was great, food was plentiful and tasty... More

Sea Quest Expeditions deserves a 5. I'm a former wilderness guide who 'worked the backcountry wilderness' of Alaska, to include as a sea kayak guide, from 86-96. However, i wish there was a Tripaadvisor site for the San Juan Islands, in general, because i would only give a 3 on that site. But this review is for the kayak trip,... More
