Lovely bike ride out of Friday Harbor. Take False Bay Road- flatter and much less traffic. Note the last mile of the road to the end of Cattle Point is under construction until early October. Pack a lunch and eat it while savouring the terrific views. The interpretative center is worth a visit too.

Saw some bald eagles in a nest with younglings. Wonderful history. Kids enjoyed the Junior Ranger program. Beautiful views.

South Beach along Cattle Point Road used to be known as "Watership Down" for the massive rabbit warrens and a troop of resident foxes who, like Wiley E. Coyote, seldom seemed to be able to catch one. Yet they did. Now the rabbits have been largely expelled and the tourists are feeding the foxes because they are so cute. Until... More

The whales seem to be out there alot! Except for right now with all the construction going on, I'd suggest not planning to make a trip out there until next year when the new road is done.

We stopped and took in some of the spectacular sights, including the nearby American Camp. Great spot to look for eagles, whales, and we even had a local fox drop by looking for a handout. Didn't see any whales but their local interpretive center is a great place to stop for info and history of this beautiful place

The American Camp has some nice hikes down to the beach front and nice interpretive story boards to help you get a sense of what it was like during this time.

Such a peaceful location with beautiful views. Enjoyed this location. I took a lot of photos here and just sat on the rocks a while and enjoyed the view. The wild flowers were so very pretty. Make sure to wear comfy shoes, as the rocks and gravel can be a little hard to walk on. Will return to this location.

Very lovely walk on a foot path up to the light house (which is boarded up and you cannot enter). Path in June surrounded by flowers and berries, bees and butterflies. At the lighthouse, gorgeous sweeping views. Hearty and agile souls can walk down the steep path to the beach and tide pools below.

Several plaques describe the naval radio station that was here. Also, the site of Native American salmon fishing and a light house. Easy hiking trails.

Although not the highlight of our island excursion, Cattle Point should be on your list of things to see. The most southerly point of the island proves to have some pretty stunning views albeit VERY windy when we were there.
