The Botanical Garden was a highlight of our trip to San Antonio. I enjoy going to botanical gardens, and this one was unique. For starters, we enjoyed the special exhibit “Big Bugs”. Large wooden bug statues were scattered throughout the park. We felt like we were in “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”. We also really enjoyed the “native Texas” trails... more

Recently visited the Botantical Gardens and we're glad we did. Almost didn't because it wasn't rated within the top 10 things to do and we had limited time in San Antonio. Each area of the park is divided into different eco-systems that accomodate the plant life in that area. It's diveristy was remarkable and I loved the contemporary art sprinkled... more

Great chance to learn about the plants of Texas as well as a nice selection of plants from other areas. PArticulalry enjoyable for us was the garden designed for the visually impaired with lots of plants that are notable for smell or touch. more

Please take time to visit the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. We had a wonderful day there in early December, 2008. It is "off season" of course but for us ( from Pennsylvania) it was wonderful to see the flowers and feel the warm sunshine. It was in the high 60"s when we were there. We used a coupon in one... more

This is a beautiful place to visit. Plan on at least one hour and try to eat lunch at the Carriage House Restaurant which is open until 2:00 p.m. more

My family just returned from a trip to San Antonio that included the SA Botanical Gardens. We've visited the site many times over the years, but this time the place looked tired and ragged, like it's showing its age. There does not appear to be an overall master plan for the site, so the meager Japanese garden, for example, is... more

I recently visited San Antonio. The AAA tour book noted the Botanical Garden as a Gem to see. So, we made our way there and paid our fee and started our tour. I thought since it was almost mid-March that it would be a welcoming change from the snow covered midwest. I was wrong. The Rose Garden only had sticks.... more

These gardens are the best I've seen in Texas. I went in August and the temps were just too much to handle. Spring or fall would be better. Anyway, if you go on a weekday it will be as if you have the place to yourself; all 60 acres. The staff is very friendly and the price is a great... more
