The base is huge! Upon checking in to see our loved one for his boot camp graduation they immedietely need the person you are visiting to come to the visiting office to voucher for your arrival. They take your picture, ask for your social, and this becomes your ticket to go in and out of base (don't loose it!) until... More

Liked the strong security. Everything closed early and could not access the store I was looking for late Saturday and Sunday everything was pretty much closed.

Get there early, get a seat at the parade grounds and WAIT. No reason to go all the way to the Center for 'orientation'. Just get in line at the Luke Blvd Gate(East) and wait your turn. Head to the parade grounds and get a seat and wait. bring water, seat cushion if you have a tender tush. seats are... More

I was born at Wilford Hall Hospital which is now being closed, I served from 1985-2002 there. Most of the museums and things to see are falling due to budget cutbacks. Static displays are nice but not as nice as the Security Police museum was. If your being assigned here get with someone before you venture off base.

We went to our granddaughters BMT graduation. It was a very moving experience. The temperatures were in the 100's. I don't know how those young adults stand the heat and humidity, but they adapt. Make sure you drink a lot of water if you are here in the summertime. It is very impressive how they can manage to graduate 35,000... More

Saw my son graduate from Air Force Basic Military Training. Had a wonderful 4 days exploring the base and surrounding areas with my Airman.

Loved everything about it. We stayed on base and it was really nice. It's a small town within itself. Many places to eat on base.

A piece of history in America. This is where all the Air Force enlisted members begin their careers in service to America. In the past it was also the location of the Air Force Officer Training School (OTS).

If you are going to Lackland AFB for Graduation. I know you are going to love it no matter what. I would suggest going to the bowling alley and Going over ti Godfathers Pizza, the pizza was good, but best of all it was not crowded gave us time to spend with our Airman with out having to yell to... I was at Lackland for 8 1/2 weeks from March to May 2013, and swore to myself I would never come back. Now after some thought, coming back might not be such a bad idea, because Lackland AFB is one of the greatest bases in the AF. The main base at Lackland is comprised of your BMT squadrons and such...
