Visited the installation to buy a few things at the BX. Not very impressive, nor was the commissary. For such a huge installation it would seem the infrastructure would not be as dated as it was. It one of the more neglected installations I've been on. The aviation static displays were a nice aspect to my visit. I spent a... More

Went to Lackland AFB for my daughter's Basic Military Training graduation. The graduation events were well organized and made me very proud of my daughter and the US Air Force. Since this is a military base, don't expect any entertainment highlights, but take time to visit the Airmen Museum as well as the Security Forces museum. You'll find lots of... More

I visited the base for a friend's basic training graduation. The ceremony was very nice. The base was pretty and modern. I wasn't too impressed with the BX. It seemed a little underwhelming for such an important base. To visit someone who is graduating, it's well worth the visit.

The first time I visited Lackland (in 1981) I didn't enjoy it much. But then I was being yelled at. Continually. Now I like to go back to get re-blued. And see the airplanes. And the military working dog memorial. And go shopping at the commissary.

very emotional and patiotic graduation, COINS and Airman's run. Makes one proud to be an American. Base is neat place to visit to see exactly what goes on there..they do need to put weed killer out and cut the grass, and update some of the signs on the old planes on display.

We traveled from NC to Lackland to see our son graduate in to the Air Force. Everyone was so friendly, informative and just awesome! It was a very well kept Base and I am so glad we have the air force to defend our country!

We had a wonderful time at Lackland for our grandson's graduation from Basic Military Training. The base is absolutely clean from one end to the other. Parking was a breeze. We experienced the largest graduating class since 1976 due to a schedule change. They changed the schedule from 8 1/2 weeks to 7 1/2 weeks so they had to double... More

We were here for my grandson's graduation from Basic Military Training. 8 1/2 weeks of drilling and learning to behave in a military fashion. Thursday begins with the trainees' "Run". Get there early because they run by at 8:30 A.M. There are plenty of seats in the four very large high rise bleachers. Be advised that the steps/seats have no... More

Great facilities and support. Nice BX, lodging, and services. Make sure you don't speed on base, the Security Forces WILL ticket you if you speed. Lodging is very affordable.

We took out of towners here and we enjoyed the museum of airplanes. Just happened that one person with us is an expert on aviation. As we walked around the grounds he surprised us by telling us about each airplane. When I looked you would have thought he wrote the stories that were posted about the aircrafts. Recommend to anyone... More
