So it's well hidden if your not familiar with the area but still in a nice safe area. I used my travel guide from my hotel to find things to do since I'm only here traveling and the book said it was free on the day I went but when I got there the guy working the front desk said... More

This whole complex of galleries, art spaces, and a brewery space right on the river is one great place to connect with the hip and vibrant arts community in San Antonio. We especially liked being able to meet and talk with young artists at the Sunday Artists Market. Dogs are allowed and fawned over. There's a tiny little drinks bar,... More

We loved walking around the whole Blue Star area and see all the artist's work. We stopped in the coffee shop and there was a lot happening in there. The river walk is amazing and we enjoyed checking out the neighborhood.

We happened upon the new Blue Star Contemporary arts museum by chance while on a get-away weekend to a Noble Inns B&B. The show was comprised of 3 Texas women artists. The one familiar to us Sharon Kopriva. It was a comprehensive collection of work from her religious icon sculptural pieces to her new multi-dimensional canvases. Once of our favorite... More

So enjoyed the Gary Sweeney exhibit that was on at the Blue Star Contemporary Gallery while we were there. If this is the normal caliber of artists who are invited to exhibit, it is well worth the $5 admission. And afterwards, head over to the brewery for some good brew and eats. All accessible by foot from the Mission Reach... More

Blue Star is another area of San Antonio that is being developed with restaurants, art, shops, etc. and is across the street from the Guenther House and the Pioneer Mill. The Blue Star Contemporary Art Center features local artists, as well as temporary exhibits. We were surprised and delighted that George Tobolowsky's "Found Objects" metal sculpture had just opened a... More

Blue Star Contemporary Gallery is a frequent stop when visiting San Antonio because there is always something great to see. The newest exhibit which runs through August 18 of San Antonio Painters is a must-see. Eight local artists work is exhibited. A very enjoyable exhibit!

Had always wanted to visit this area, which has several art spaces. LOVED the San Angel Folk Art Gallery, fabulous selections & Hank can direct you to the best restaurants in town! The Contemporary Art Center had a very cool installation out front but didn't open until noon. There's a casual brew-type restaurant here as well as galleries, photographers and... More

We were in San Antonio in early December 2008. I saw articles about the Blue Star Arts Complex near the King Williams District. It is located across the street from the Guenther House restaurant. Since we were in the area we thought we would wander through the art galleries. There weren't any that we could find! The complex Could Be... More
