You are not going to get a margarita here ! Historic and neat . . Ask the Bartender about the bullet holes and the history behind it . . Great photos and artifacts of Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders .

I loved how the bartenders were so friendly along with other people who came in there, it is a tiny little bar but thats another thing that I liked about it! Only bad thing, there comes a time when they have say "last call"!

The staff at the Menger Bar welcomed me in with a warm smile! I had a great history lesson while I enjoyed my favorite drink. Thank you for a great experience!

If you want a bit of history, check out this little bar. It is history to a T. The staff are wonderful. Renee and Jeff are as wonderful as the last time I was here. This is the best place in the entire hotel.

It had been several years since I had been to the Manger. I swear it all looks the same (bar and hotel lobby). You can see all the other reviews and history of Teddy and his recruiting Rough Riders here. Plenty of relevant items on display in the bar. Huge Bull Moose above Teddy's portrait. It all works. If you... More

3 trips to the Menger during our stay in San Antonio. Great historical bar. This is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders. There is Teddy stuff all over the bar. The balcony seating is awesome if you are short, not so cool if you are over 6ft tall. They have food available from the restaurant at the hotel. It... More

This was a great stop! The woodworking of the bar itself was beautiful along with its Thomas Edison lightbulbs and the room itself is warm and cozy. Our bartender was very professional and fun to watch as she waited on a room packed with Single Shooter Convention goers waiting to hear the Teddy Roosevelt impersonator speak. There is a display... This is where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rouigh Riders and it is a wonderully old and historic bar that has more history than one can imagine. Service was excellent and although there were very few people in the bar everyone was quite friendly.
