I walked all the way from downtown to see Steves Homestead only to find that although the sign at the house says that there are tours every half hour, you have to book in advance for them. Located in the historic King William’s Neighborhood, this home is representative of the lifestyle lived by German Gentry that were the early movers and shakers of the San Antonio community. This tour was extraordinary! For $6, we had the opportunity to explore several rooms of the home and many of its original furnishings. I enjoyed my visit to the King William Historic District, and especially the Steves Homestead. The Steves Family was very influential to San Antonio, and the home was considered modern for its time by being the first to have electricity in the city and have sinks in all four bedrooms.
