The river-walk is the main attraction down town San Antonio. In fact I went up to street level to try and find a few more options and the best things going in downtown tend to be on the river-walk. At times it seems like you have run out of city, then you turn a corner and it erupts with life.... More

The River Walk is such a romantic place to visit. There are tons of restaurants along the river, Mexican, Italian, Japanese, American, etc. Besides dining, you can also take the boat trip, both during the day and at night. There is a marriage island somewhere along the river. Couples can check it out. It is a cute small island with... More

It is amazing how they have managed not only to create the course of the river to flow in a loop of easily walkable proportions but also to develop the plethora of shops and other attractions around the route. This is a must.

My wife and I were uncertain where to park, having never visited downtown San Antonio before. Thanks to a TA forum subscriber, we made for Lexington, slightly north of the central area. Being a Sunday, metered parking was free and we were well set for returning to the I-35. We spent the whole day ambling around the river walk. We... More

Yes, it's pretty...but so unnatural. It's a gimmicky place like Disney World. It was built to attract tourists (and it does). The walk is nice along the water, but the restaurants/shops are sub par and the atmosphere feels...forced. We ate at a Mexican Resturant (Rio Rio) and it was average. We went out to two bars...again, not that great. The... More

Take your time and find the quaint shops and restaurants. Leave the chains for another time. A boat trip helps to put the whole downtown into perspective.

I spent as much time as possible walking the Riverwalk! Parts are touristy, parts are not. Nature, trees, flowing water, all below a modern, concrete city. This is not to be missed!

I have been to the Riverwalk many times and still love it! Make sure you take the boat ride. The tour guides do an excellent job. The restraunts do get busy on Friday and Saturday nights so be prepared to wait.

I liked the river and the riverwalk. It was fun to walk along the canals, watch the birds, the people, the boats, etc. if you go to San Antonio, Riverwalk is a must! Take a little boat cruise to explore the river and the place from the water. It's only $8 per person, and it's fun!
