The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest. « less

I'm against zoos. The bear enclosure is cement, I did not see the animal The elegant is all alone also over cement Children these days watch TV And can see the animals filmed by experts, running, mating, doing their kill to survive in their own environment. Infants are with those tablets all the time What sense is in seeing lonely... More

The San Antonio zoo is my favorite. The SA zoo is 100 years old this year (2014) and I love the old-time feel of this zoo. There are plenty of new attractions as well, including a wonderful carousel. The new cafe, the Beastro is very good, much better than typical theme park fare. The prices are reasonable, kid's meals are... More

The is the best zoo I have ever been too. It's huge, tons and tons of animals. I don't understand all the bad reviews. The animals all seemed well taken care of and areas were all clean. The reptile house has a gigantic collection of snakes and one gigantic boa constrictor. There is a butterfly garden that has the feeling... More

We were all adults and still had so much fun, it was my first time at this zoo, although I've visited this city many times, the zoo its big enough to enjoy it, they have some shows , but the one that I really liked it was with the elephants. I truly recommend you to visit it.

The toy train around the zoo is good. You can also go to the Japanese tea garden or the brackenrick park next to the zoo.

I visited on a Sunday, so you would expect the cages, enclosures, walkways, etc to be clean for visitors, but, no. Walkways were covered in detritus from large flocks of birds, water features were stagnant and smelly. I expect to smell some animal activities, but what was there was old perhaps only a few days. It is evident that more... More

It was very fun for the family and I would recommend it to anyone. The lion exhibit was the most fun of all and they have a wonderful gift shop.

Cheap membership as I joined as a individual for $30! Well laid out city zoo with a few great animal contact enclosures. It was brutally hot and misting areas for people would have been great. Easy to navigate and very family friendly!!

With how they described this facility on their website I expected more. It doesn't seem that they keep up with the place much, the only area that was nice is where they have the elephant. Other than that it looks pretty dingy and weeds everywhere and the animals don't look very healthy or happy. They have large animals in small... More
