The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest. « less

It was very fun for the family and I would recommend it to anyone. The lion exhibit was the most fun of all and they have a wonderful gift shop.

Cheap membership as I joined as a individual for $30! Well laid out city zoo with a few great animal contact enclosures. It was brutally hot and misting areas for people would have been great. Easy to navigate and very family friendly!!

With how they described this facility on their website I expected more. It doesn't seem that they keep up with the place much, the only area that was nice is where they have the elephant. Other than that it looks pretty dingy and weeds everywhere and the animals don't look very healthy or happy. They have large animals in small... More

The part I loved the most is the mostly natural setting as opposed to concrete and chain link fences of most zoos. I also loved the bird exhibit where there was a kookaburra that would let you get close. My grand daughter loved feeding the fish and ducks. This was fun, very educational, and a good walking exercise which I... More

this is a great zoo, and we always enjoy the visit. The park is well organized and clean. I make at least one trip each year to this location, and am never disappointed.

While I know it's hot, the enclosures for the animals lacked water, had screens blocking views, were small, and not worth the price of admission. Very disappointing!

I was very impressed with how clean the zoo was. The weather was very hot, very few water fountains and few shades. It was the 100th anniversary was it was crowded. Over all we really enjoyed the animals. I felt they were well care for and had plenty of room to exercise. Their cages were clean and plenty of food... More

I love the flow of this zoo. I loved the elephant education and tricks for peanuts. Lots of animals. Zoos are my favorite attraction and I have been to a few. This was my favorite zoo. Well worth your time. I wish we had had more time.

I normally wouldn't write a review on a zoo but my kids and I had SUCH a wonderful experience I just had to share this! Not only was the zoo super clean, excellently run, and very very large, it was extremely inexpensive for its size and offerings! I really cant stress enough that if you have kids or simply love...
