The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest. « less

Have been to the zoo several times and love it everytime.. It's best to go during autum time in my opinion. Kids will not get too tired and will enjoy to the fullest.

This zoo is wonderfully laid out to make it easy to see everything. There are always coupons in the hotels so be sure to pick one up to save. The zoo was so great for our group of zoo lovers that we made it an all day event rather than just a couple of hours. Beautiful zoo.

Our family of 6 visited this zoo on a nice spring day. We liked the number of animals we were able to see. We didn't have to walk long between exhibits. The selection of animals was decent. However there were too many bird species and not enough primates or big cats. Also, there were no giraffes or camels. The animals... More

My husband and I took our 13 and 7 year old daughters to the zoo during our SA vacation. We were greeted upon entering by a wonderful man who took the time to tell our kids the highlights. We enjoyed seeing flamingo eggs, 8-month old tiger cubs, monkeys and all kinds of birds. Those were just a few. We got... More

I love zoos so I had to stop at the San Antonio zoo. It was a little on the smelly side in some areas but otherwise was a fun time. I got to see some animals that I haven't seen before and we had some awesome animal experiences. And it was affordable.

This is the most beautiful zoo my family has been too. most of the animals were being fed when we came, which was super exciting to my little ones. all of them seemed to be out and moving around, unlike most zoos were the animals just lay around and can not be seen. It was rainy weather but there seems... More

During our visit to the zoo, rain poured down on us for almost the entire time we were there. Luckily, there are a lot of indoor exhibits and even the outdoor exhibits have awnings/covering that sheltered us from the rain. This is one of the nicest zoos I have been to and I would love to go back during a... More

But a recent visit to San Antonio, Texas to visit with my 18month old great niece, Quinn gave me a chance to revisit the San Antonio Zoo. The weather was pleasant and even though the Zoo was crowded (it was a Sunday) we had a good time and she was delighted by the animals. The Zoo is quite old, but... More

The zoo was small and nice and all the animals were out. It was a bit expensive for a small zoo and extra for the carosel about $3 that seemed high. The name says zoo and aquarium.... didnt see an aquarium unless they are talking about a very small house with some fish. Overall a nice time.

The zoo was beyond what I expected. We really enjoyed the design and the layout. There were even enclosures designed to also support an extremely old oak tree within the zoo. The zoo grounds were clean and enclosures seemed well cleaned. It was well worth it and we will go back in the future.
