I live nearby and the convenience of it is appealing. I also try to avoid the large cinemas at the malls. I like the coffee cafe right outside it, which is fairly new. Unfortunately, this place does need some updates, as it is showing lots of wear and tear, and hasn't been updated for quite some time (especially the bathrooms.)

Cinema Salem is a lovely little local theatre. It has three regular theatres and a smaller, 18-person viewing room that I think is typically used for independent films or their own historical films about Salem and the North Shore, which locals and visitors alike should see. My friends and I love coming here, not only because it's convenient for us... More

Small theatre, but really nice set-up. Tables and chairs provided, while you wait for movie theatre to open up for seating. Snack bar is fully stocked, including popcorn with 'real' butter. Theatre was clean and well taken care of.

Old style movie theater, locally owned, not a major chain. They have a small cafe, and put real butter on their popcorn. Great spot to see a movie. They also run a film festival in early March, and have a screening room for "artsy" movies/shorts.

I saw the History of Halloween and could not wait for it to be over as I was falling asleep. The movie theater I was in could only fit 18.

One of a rare breed, a locally owned, downtown cinema. They recently installed new sound and new digital projection, so you can have a great experience here and they carry both the big shows and the art house shows. Also occasionally show some vintage classics!

Independent Movies are amazing, because they aren't films that you can see anywhere or on some dvd, they have a special unique magic that you can find right in those special spots you can find in your travels. This institution is one of those such places, where there plenty of unique films you can watch there in 3D! It is... More

While in a nice building the cinema itself was pretty dingey. Just unswept and worn looking. I don't kow if we'd go back.

The salem witch trials and one about Halloween. They were ok but a tour with someone to give you the history would have been more interesting.

We watched this fascinating film in a very small intimate cinema. We are so glad we did as the short film brought to life the terrible events that happened here. I would definitely recommend you see this film when coming to Salem..
