We decided to go on a Monday, as the weekends can fill up. Only 12 or so people on the schooner FAME for our trip and it was wonderful. Perfect crew and perfect weather. I would recommend going on a weekday so you can move around the boat and interact with the crew. Great story about the boat. Perfect cap... More

Just by chance we stumbled across the Fame. We went on an afternoon sail around Salem. The captain was FANTASTIC, he knows a lot of local sea lore and was a great tour guide. Definitely something to do with a small group, it's and intimate setting.

We enjoy our evening sail very much. We went at night due to the full moon. It was very enjoyable, even though there was little wind. We still had the 1:45 hour sail, moistly on the motor. The capt. was very pleasant and share knowledge of the ship's namesake during the War of 1812 and the Salem Harbor area. The... More

Found this online and bought our tickets through Zerve. Everything went extremely well and we had a great time on the ship. There was not much wind that day but that is not Mike & Melissa's fault. They and their crew were extremely personable and excited to explain the history of the original vessel as well as their reconstructed one.... More

We went sailing with the wonderful crew on the schooner Fame at 4:00 pm on a beautiful day. It's a lovely boat and they had the kids help raise the sails and steer the ship. The captain and crew were very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned some new things and got to enjoy a cocktail and cool breeze at the... More

The Schooner Fame offers a short sailing trip around Salem sound with a brief overview from the Captain of Salem's maritime history. I thought this was pretty interesting. The crew is very friendly and professional. Once they motor out into the sound, the three sails are hoisted and the schooner takes off on a sailing cruise of about 1 hour.... More

Spent an afternoon sailing around the sound with a crew of retired sailors who were very informative about the boat and harbor. Recommend this to any family who want to experience the joy of sailing on a schooner. They will get you involved hoisting the sails or steering if you want. Not an exciting trip to se whales but a... This is as great a way to spend an afternoon in New England as I have come across in a long time. The harbor in Salem is beautiful and the sail and crew on the schooner FAME are as good as it gets. Highly recommended.

enjoyed a great morning out on the schooner Fame. Leaving from the marina in Salem, on our trip the Fame cruised out into Salem Sound with good views of Salem, Winter Island, Beverly, Marblehead, and the many islands. The crew was very nice and provided great information about the history of the original Fame schooner, its crew, and the geography.... More
