enjoyed a great morning out on the schooner Fame. Leaving from the marina in Salem, on our trip the Fame cruised out into Salem Sound with good views of Salem, Winter Island, Beverly, Marblehead, and the many islands. The crew was very nice and provided great information about the history of the original Fame schooner, its crew, and the geography.... More

A great way to spend an early afternoon. The schooner is large enough to feel stable but small enough that you don't feel lost in a crowd. The captain is very personable and knowledgeable. We particularly enjoyed the story of the building of the FAME. There is the opportunity to help with the sails and the small cannon on board... More

The weather had been bleak leading up to the Schooner Fest Weekend with showers, downpours with lightning and fog so we didn't know how this would turn out as the forecast was more of the same. We were warned via e-mail Sat. the fog might be a problem...not that we couldn't navigate but that we might not be able to... More

Beautiful boat, fun and interesting history lesson along the way from the crew. My son got to help hoist the sails and steer the boat. The crew was interested in who we were and were engaging the entire time. It felt like we were out for 20 minutes and not almost 2 hours!

A weekday is best because it isn't crowded. Did the 4pm sail and the sailors and guides were wonderful. They let us "help" put up and take down the sails. Fantastic opportunity. Even the kids were able to do some steering. Calm and Relaxing.

The two of us booked this sail on line and didn't have any problems. The replica of the 1812 Schooner Fame was a nice working ship and well kept. We had about 30 people on board our evening sail. The crew was excellent and full of local knowledge about the area and the ship. We sailed for about 90 minutes... More

This is an actual wooden ship circa 1812. The tour is about 90 minutes and takes you to the edge of Salem Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and has published several books on sailing in the 19th century. It is easy to tell his love for the work that he does. So much attention... More

Enjoyed our sail! Boat is clean and comfortable! Mike knows a lot of history! Kids enjoyed steering, raising the sails, and when Mike set of the cannon! Nice way to spend a couple of peaceful hours out of a busy trip!

We bought the Groupons to sail on Fame and had no issues at all. It clearly stated on the instructions that they did not take reservations for groupon holders, and they laid out their hours of operation and even the fact that in inclement weather they could call the cancelation closer to sail time. With all this in mind, we... More
