Its like going back in time to the early 1900's...anyone with any interest in the history of the west would be thoroughly impressed. I would recommend that one should avoid the summer months. Springtime of early fall would be the best'

This a zoo that doesn't seem like a zoo. Waking through the grounds you get the feeling that you are on a hike through the desert and are viewing various animals in the wild. The desert cactus and other desert plants are beautiful. At various locations throughout the grounds are learning stations where staff members give presentations on various animals... More

The Sonoran Desert Museum (30 minutes outside of Tucson) is an optional activity you don't want to miss. There is lots of shade, the attractions are interesting, there is an excellent restaurant and gift shop, and...they have a Hummingbird Aviary! Until I visited there - I wasn't aware that hummingbirds squeak and chirp. And if you're lucky (like I was)... More
