Always take visitors from out of state to the mission. They have done a great job on their movie that tells the story of the restoration of the mission.

This huge plaza fronts the beautiful "white dove of the desert" church. Enjoy some Indian frybread from the vendors that line the edge of the plaza. Go inside. Take the free guided tour. Visit the museum & gift shop. You will enjoy the peaceful and informative time.

First off there is no admission so you can vise any time. This is one of the few completely renovated missions and still having services. Great place to spend some time. They offer reasonably priced alter candles and have a great gift shop.

This is the front of the beautiful White Dove of the Desert! Native Americans have set up outdoor cafes and are selling fresh popovers and tacos made on a wood campfire. Take the time to stop and enjoy the food!

This church is truly beautiful. It's called the White Dove of the Desert and it really is. The exterior is calming and peaceful, the interior is beautiful. Just remember this is a church and there will be times when you cannot visit. There is a gift shop too.

Interesting background and facts about the origin of the mission and the involvement of the local population. Docent (Gerry Peterson) was knowledgable and showed enthusiasm about her subject.

St. Xavier Mission named the "white dove of the desert" is a most interesting place to visit. Much of it has been restored recently, and the frescoes, statues, etc. are a delight to see. Be sure to take one of the free tours - they are excellent and will let you appreciate the mission and its history. Afterwards go out... More

Take your time; wait for the guided tour; visit the gift shop. You will not be disappointed. For those that have traveled far and wide (maybe Europe? Italy?) the cathedral will truly impress. Don't miss it.

It is definitely stunning to stand here in the plaza on a beautifully clear day and see the city trust of the white mission building against a clear blue sky. Really beautiful and great photo opportunity. And then there's the fry bread. Sorry but gotta mention it. There're stalls set up in the plan to sell the fry bread. It... More
