The mountain course features some very unique holes with big elevation changes. The fairways are generally wide and receptive. The greens are also generally large and putt very well. The over-all quality of the course is very good. It has desert features while still giving you park-like holes. Definitely a must play if you are in Tucson.

We played this course and enjoyed the views and the fairways were in magnificent shaped. Unfortunately the greens are not in good shape. We asked the ranger and he told us that they were using a new system for aerating. There are lines in the greens and if your ball gets caught in one of them, it doesn't run true... More

Fun course, very scenic, some great signature holes, above average condition. Round today was 5 HOURS! When I mentioned this to the pro shop staff, his reply was "we are still in busy season, it's the risk you take". Pathetic. Never saw a marshall (one was around supposedly) but once again this attitude about painfully slow pace of play should... More

This course is a good test in the desert. It is very spread out and it feels almost like you are in an enclosed area die to brush and cactus. This course would be very difficult to walk. It is a mile from 9 green to 10 tee. Literally. I would recommend it however. Good, friendly service.

The VC area is upscale, nice. The arrival at the pro shop is somewhat confusing. Hard to figure where to go. Small pro shop, nice items though. We reminded ourselves that this club has members so we treaded lightly and remembered we were guests. AWESOME VISTAS. Course (Jan., 2014) was in fantastic shape. Scenery second to none. We played with... More

I have played them all and I prefer this course to any other in the greater Tucson area, including it's more pricey neighbors at Dove Mountain. The course is always in great shape with smooth, fast greens (pay attention to the Starter's advice about the greens), and it has beautiful views and a great practice area. It is a challenging... Even an average golfer, you should play the Mountain Course at Ventana to see the most pictured hole west of the Mississipi and to enjoy the scenic of that course, not talking about the 110% quality of his fairways and greens. This course is my place to be while in Tucson.

We played this course on the afternoon of Oct 15. The weather and course conditions were both very good. The only downside was they had recently re-seeded, so it was cartpath only. This was my first time playing a desert course, and the scenery did not disappoint! My game forgot to show up on this day, but I still enjoyed.

Played Ventana -- mountain course in February 2013. Staff very efficient and friendly--the course is a must do. Fairways , greens , bunkers all in exceptional condition--- making shots from well maintained fairways to greens that hold shots is a real treat. Design of course is very good--many different layouts and shot requirements. Played other more expensive courses that are... More

Played on a VERY COLD (40 degree) Saturday. Course was closed until noon to protect the greens. Staff was very accomodating and allowed 2 of us to play only 9 holes as we had to watch the Broncos lose their playoff game - yikes! This was my fifth round at Ventana and it is always a thrill to bring first... More
