This is a great area to hike around with the family, be careful, don't go to far if you are not experienced. Seems like they are having to send in rescue teams when people get lost trying to find the pools.

If you want a hard, vertical climb in a short period of time this is the hike for you. The reward are these beautiful pools and waterfalls. I really enjoyed it around sunset. The light was perfect for photos.

After almost 3 inches of rain, we visited Catalina State Park. We live "just around the corner" so we visit the park 3-5 times a week. Today was gorgeous! Cool air, warm sun, beautiful sky and views to take your breath away. We headed to Dripping Springs around noon. There was so much water in the washes, it made crossing... More

We camped here for a week with our granddaughters in the campground overflow area. This is a great destination to enjoy the Sonora Desert up close, although it is quite hot in the summer. Lots of hiking trails of mixed difficulties to suit everyone. If you have horses, there is a separate equestrian area and lots of riding trails. For... More

Took a cab from our Westward Look resort to this state park (about $30 each way), which was well worth the cost. We attempted to hike the Romero Pools. The hike was wonderful, but a bit harder than we anticipated. Any healthy individual would be ok, but my hiking companion was not feeling very well so we did not make... More

We have lived in Tucson our entire lives and still love visiting Catalina State Park. Some trails are more difficult than others but there is a lot to choose from. Plenty of restrooms and picnic places at the trailhead.

paid $7 to get in park. Picnic areas were weak. Not enough covered tables or tables under trees. Did not hike although that looked like a good experience.

My wife and I really enjoyed hiking in Catalina State Park while were visiting Tucson. We took the Canyon Loop trail. This trail initially climbed up the hill to some great views. On the last part of the hike, it dropped down into the canyon where it was cool with lots of vegetation. We planned to go back during our... More

I've lived in Tucson for 10 years and this is a park I have visited consistently at least once or twice a year throughout that time, and I've always found something different to do or explore when I go. I have gone mountain biking on the 50-year trail and really love it. It's a bit steep at first (to get... More

since all the national parks and forest lands were closed, we went to Catalina State Park. Great choice! Hiking was great and gave us a good taste of desert scenery and plant life. The staff was fantastic and seemed very pleased to have us visit the park. Because of this we visited several other state parks during our trip through... More
