RISD WORKS encourages us to look at familiar things in a new way: behind every item featured, from mass-produced object to fine original art, is the hand and mind of a RISD artist.

RISD WORKS was founded to celebrate the Rhode Island School of Design's leadership in fine art, design, and education and continues that mission today. We inform our patrons of the importance of art and design by retailing only items designed and/or made by RISD alumni and faculty.

Designs by RISD grads

A nice way to see how RISD grads have created commercial products with their degree. Interesting to see the variety of work all in one place that you can buy and take with you.

Quick coffee during visit to the museum on a day they were not serving sandwiches. Still, the coffee and trail mix kept us going through the next set of galleries.

A good choice for gifts, especially interesting jewelry, this shop connected to the RISD museum features the wares of RISD grads. The selection changes from time to time, but there is always a range of prices. Not to be confused with the RISD store for students across the street. Go to the latter if you want art supplies.

I love coming into this store because I always find something to buy and you never know what you will find. All kinds of textiles, wood, materials to use in art projects. The prices are fabulous, thus the reason to come in here. It's a fun place of recycled objects and textiles.

we visited from Newport for the day, and drove right downtown and parked around the corner, Unfortunately, the lot designated was full, but the next lot was open . a bit steep in price, but walk was short (could have parked at the mall for $2 if rain was not predicted)! exhibits were enjoyable, not much into modern student exhibits,... Broad spectrum of art, design and overall explanation of how it is done. Easy to navigate around the museum.
