The Italian woman who made my cappuccino is a genius. The films I saw here are art house all the way-- and the seating was comfortable. They ran a wonderful short at the top of the show, which is one of those old-school revival house touches I just love. There's a great deal of thought going into this place. Do... More

I watched a few interesting movies at this popular cinema house that is not played in any other cinema. You can also buy an endless supply of popcorn. The theater plays movies in a single screen with comfortable couches where you can snuggle with a glass of beer or wine and enjoy the movies. I bought snacks and beverages from... More

The couches and sofas have been updated, not necessarily change for the better, but the atmosphere remains cozy.

Small theater in Providence, gets some independent movies that the Avon does not. Very clean, with comfortable seating on couches (leather, not sketchy) with all you can eat popcorn (make sure you are by an aisle so you can go get refills!). Food is a bit on the pricey side, but the Monday movie deals make it worth it!

Open on Sunday morning. I had a great cup of coffee!! The young lady was extremely friendly and chatted while the gentleman seemed to be a little irritated, but the coffee made up for him!

This cinema has great indie movies; unfortunately it is run-down and dirty on the inside. They have a good menu, but the night we were there everything was out except the meatball sandwich. Really? First show on a Friday night? They need to do better with the food, and spruce up the inside.

Located near Brown University and RISD, the Cable Car offers a great selection of off-the-beaten-path films, showcased in a cozy theater with leather couches and hand painted murals on the walls. The food is top notch and reasonably priced: I enjoyed a turkey, cheddar and cranberry sandwich with a delicious cappuccino. If you're tired of the multiplex and endless sequels,... More

Small theater with couches.......cozy, intimate.......one of the few theaters that you can see some non-mainstream productions.

I just moved to Providence three months ago, and the Cable Car Cinema & Cafe is one of my top three finds in Providence. I've never experienced anyplace like it -- not in NYC, Chicago, Boston, or San Fran. Come here to enjoy a film in a theater with generously-sized, uber comfortable leather couches to sit in -- something I... More

Only place that shows foreign and Indie films where you sit on couches during the movie and can grab a decent bite to eat at the theatre cafe or in the little lobby. Great atmosphere, close to great restaurants and grab a nightcap up the block at L"Elizabeth's.
