A friend and I took a 3 hour ride with Sombrero whilst visiting Estes Park last week. I have nothing but praise for our guide, Levi, who was absolutely fantastic - fun but conscientious - neither I nor my friend were experienced riders, but with his guidance and encouragement, we had no problems with the ride despite snow and icy... more

Our family went on a beginner one-hour trail ride at Sombrero Ranch in Estes Park. We told them we were beginners, and the ride was published as "gentle horses on an easy trail". Within the first few minutes of the ride, all of the horses were spooked by a bird and took off running. My horse ran under a low... more

We really enjoyed the breakfast ride but the rider, overall, could be made much safer. They put young kids on their own horses when it would probably be better if they rode double with their parents. Our 6-yr old seemed really small on her own horse and had some problems with steering. What I couldn't understand is why they did... more

We took a 2 hr ride with Sombrero out of the Moraine Park stable. The staff was great. We had about 10 people on our ride and 2 wranglers. There were 2 7yo children on the ride and the wranglers made sure they knew what to do with the horse. The horses were great and all had a good time.... more

We took our three boys, ages 5, 8 and 10, on the breakfast ride this morning. None of our boys had ever ridden. My husband and I have ridden but we are very novice riders. Our ride had 19 riders, 9 of them kids. We had two wranglers, Laura who led us, and Josh who took up the rear and... more

The horse that I was given was very un-responsive to instructions. When it was spooked on the trail I was unable to regain control of it. It rode off into a stand of trees throwing me off. The staff ignored my repeated requests for medical attention and insisted that I had to walk out to the road to be brought... more

We went to Sombrero Ranch on Fri Sept 14 2007. It was my husband & I and our 2 children ages 6 & 8. While I had done a tiny bit of horseback riding when I was a child - I would defiantely still consider myself a beginner. The ponies at the zoo were the only experience my kids had.... more

What a wonderful experience! We did the Steak Fry Ride. We were a group of 8 (kids - 3, 9, 14 yrs) (adults - 60, 40, 40, 30, 30), and we were all novice riders. They matched us up with horses, and we were provided with rain gear (it did rain as we rode). The scenery was BEAUTIFUL! And, we... more

For my 5th anniversary I surprised my husband with a trip to Colorado. The trip included an 8-hour trail ride with Sombrero Ranch. We showed up 15 minutes early for our ride and at check we were immediately told that we could take an eight hour ride if we liked, but because it had rained so much in the days... more
