We took the three hour trail ride out of Estes Park at 9 AM on Saturday, May 2. It was our 30th wedding anniversary weekend. Everyone at Sombrero Ranch was fantastic. Before saddling up everything was fully explained to us. Horses were easy to mount. Our group was just my wife and myself. We had our own private ride and... More

As someone who understands the psyche of a horse less than those of cats, I'm always skeptical about horseback riding. We came as a crew of friends and took the 10am 2-hr ride. It was nothing short of fantastic with some unbeatable views of the Rockys. The horses are all cooperative and have some awesome names "Led" and "Zeppelin"....win. Our... More

Had a 3 hour trail ride and what excitement! My horse was Jedi and she was a pro. Made me feel like I had ridden forever, even though it had been years! Great staff and terrific time. Beautiful view from the top!

I'll be the first to admit that the ride wasn't the most "exhilarating" as it is a basic walk / trek up through the hills. But some of the views across to the snow capped peaks of the Rockies and Longs Peak were out of this world. We chose the two hour ride, and were joined by two others which... More

I brought my 6yr old for her first ride. It was nice to be on a horse in a safe environment, but the horses were nose to tail, walking slower than a person would. Safe, but lacking chance for excitement.

Overall we had a nice 2-hour ride. However, we were not greeted when we arrived...were not even sure where to check-in. After some waiting around we were finally helped up onto our horses and met our guide. Since our teens had never ridden, a 5-minute lesson would have been very helpful. The ride through the mountains was nice, but not... More

We did the 2 hour trail ride. Our wrangler "Doc" did a great job teaching novices in our group how to ride and explained a lot about the surroundings. We had a great time.

This was a great stop on our trip! We did the one hour tour and we happened to be the only people on the tour so we basically got a private tour. Adam was our guide and was fantastic and was a good balance of knowledge and letting us just enjoy the scenery. Everyone was so kind and wonderful -... More

We horseback ride pretty much every vacation we've been to. These horses were great and the views on the trail were beautiful! Helmets are optional but there are a lot of rocks aside the trail so I'd recommend one (they're free), even for advanced riders. Our guide was funny and had a story about every horse so it wasn't boring.... More

I took a short, 3-hour ride at Sombrero, and it was great. If you go before June, definitely dress warmly! The wind that blows up the mountain can be very cold. The ranch hands were incredibly helpful and the horses were very calm and well-trained.
