Nice scenic small hike for the tourists. Make sure to take Hwy 7 or 34 to get here; avoid hwy 36 due to the flood deconstruction that is going on with CDOT and contractors (it is a big mess with long wait times).

What a site! After going around the lake, about a mile, you owe it to yourself to take the hike down to see the falls! If you have a compass, you can wander up from the lake and check out the flora and fauna! In the spring little creatures are everywhere!

This is an easy stroll that nearly any person will be able to navigate and delivers a gorgeous view any time of the year. Longer hikes radiate out for those wanting to get away from the masses and explore.

The lake is currently frozen over. A lot of great powder and snow pack to do some serious snow shoeing.

I like to escape the crowds and if you go ten minutes off the Bear Lake trail you can do this, but it is a very nice short hike around a beautiful lake for those who aren't able or willing to do longer, more strenuous hikes.

We went snowshoeing to bear lake. We were very lucky for the weather (it snowed the day before, so we hade fresh snow and sunshine also no wind!). Only I thought I would have seen the lake (frozen but visible). Instead there was too much snow covering everything. Anyway we enjoyed our walk, we went also to Nymph lake, but... More

During the summer the crowds are big. During the winter, Bear Lake is beautiful beyond description for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. You need to know what and where you are going.

It was like Narnia out of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Tonnes of snow and the lake was frozen so we could play and frolic. Absolutely worth the drive out there.

Beautiful lake with plenty of photo ops. Easy hike to get to the lake with lots of benches and seating areas for you to rest if you are bringing little ones with you.
