We arrived about 6 pm to firstly miss the day crowds and to see it with different shadows cast by the late afternoon sun. We were not disappointed. Easy access and a relatively easy walk. A must do when in the area.

Nice and easy to walk. It was a mirror when we were there. It is a great start go on to the lake trails beyond.

This is probably the most hiked trail in Rocky Mountain NP! It's only .5 miles round trip. A beautiful, level, graveled trail. Handicapped accessible & stroller friendly. The parking lot fills up early & that means you're out of luck by 0800. As a veteran of National Parks, let me tell you right now how to do this trail. GET... More

Bear Lake is a very nice hike that almost anyone at any age can do. Clear, mostly flat hike with incredible views of the Rocky Mountains. With the easy and quick access it is a busier trail than some of the other more challenging paths.

A nice lake to walk around, however it is a bit overcrowded due to the shuttle being able to drop you off there and its a short and very easy pathway to walk on.

... And obviously so. It gets really, really crowded. Parking is at a premium after about 8:30 AM during the tourist season. There are shuttles from downtown Estes, and a park-n-ride up Bear Lake Rd. Generally people (the tourists) are well, behaved here, and there is usually an incredible staff of Park Rangers etc to help (one of the benefits).... More

Loved the hiking path that went around the lake. The lake edge had great spots to take family pictures. Great place to explore

This is easy to get to, but because of this, quite a few people are there. It is beautiful once you find a secluded spot. We tried the Bierstadt trail and it is much less crowded; if you don't mind a bit more strenuous hike that is. And the lake is absolutely beautiful....like a post card.

Go in the morning to get better views of the peaks behind the lake. Gorgeous little hike around the perimeter with trails leading up into the massive peaks.

Nice sunny day, not overly crowded with visitors. Drove into park at Beaver Meadows entrance, parked at park and ride, took park shuttle bus from there to Bear Lake and back to park and ride lot when we were done. Efficient shuttle bus system. Some waiting time for bus due to number of park visitors, but better and less frustrating... More
