I have never smiled so much watching someone else doing something. My 12-year-old son has wanted to learn to rock climb for a couple of years now. Jake Gaventa was an excellent instructor. He took him to "The Hand" in Estes Park for a four-hour lesson. Jake was patient, respectful and encouraging to my son. I figured there would be... More

Great staff! Went to the Boulder location - Everett was our guide. Half day your really reasonable. We went to Happy Hour Crag in Boulder Canyon. Felt like this secured the 'Colorado experience' for us! Had only been to indoor gym and I am quite a beginner. Great experience! Thank you!

My family didn't know quite what to expect, but we were all beyond pleased with our experience. Our guide, Ryan, was ridiculously good, encouraging and safe, he knew just what to advise and do to help our sons (and us!) have fun and surprise ourselves with what we could do!

We took our 7,10 and 11 year old boys to rock climb in Estes Park. They had an absolute blast! If asked, they'd say rock climbing was their favorite thing to do over our atv ride, ropes course and bike rental. Our little guy was scared at first, but our guide was calming and encouraging. Best money we spent all... More

I have had a wonderful experience with all of your guides, especially with Ian Fowler. Ian is really experienced and knowledgeable in all kinds of climbing. I have climbed with him at local crags around Denver, alpine rock, and alpine mixed. I am a budding climber so I climb relatively easy stuff (hard for me though) and Ian has always... More

I took an Avalanche 1 course through CMS this past weekend and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. I was super impressed with how organized and interactive the course was and our guides were fantastic. I would definitely return for future classes.

Climbed with Ian Fowler at Lumpy ridge last Friday. While I've climbed extensively in the Gunks, NY, over the years, I was rusty, and without my gear. Ian chose perfect routes that challenged me enough, but were still something I could handle—and enjoy. It was an awesome day; like climbing with a good friend. Even if I had my own... More

My opimion of CMS changed drastically this past year. I've climbed with them a few times over the years and they did an OK job. My employees generously gave me a gift certificate for $675 to use at CMS, which they paid for infull. I had a series of surgeries ove rthe past couple of years which prevented me from... More

I've been climbing with Senior Guide Bob Chase for over 12 years. He is a great guy, and the staff at the school have always been competent and professional. I've also had many friends who have climbed with Bob (ages as young as 5) and he also made my fiance feel comfortable on her first long climb in Boulder.

The Colorado Mountain School is a great place to get a feel for what mountain climbers experience. On a recent visit to Estes Park I booked a half day climb with CMS and had the pleasure to have Kip Davis as our guide. I am 70 and wanted my grand kids to get on a mountain and be safe at... More
