I think this is under the radar as most people do Trail Ridge Road and have reached their fill of scenic drives. This is quite different though and much less white knuckling than Trail Ridge Road. It seems reviewers have done different sections so I'll be more explicit. You can take Hwy 7 from Estes Park and then descend down... More

Take your time on this drive and plan for cold weather when you get out of your vehicle to look around. The beetle-killed timber is clearly evident as the trees are starting to turn from green to red to grey. Some of this needs to have a controlled burn.

Splendid scenery, many turnoffs for better views or short or long hikes, plenty of small towns along the way for any needs.

The road through the Rocky Mountain National Park was closed, so we had to find an alternate route from Estes Park to Vail. A friend recommended the Peak to Peak Highway. Glad he did because it was a very beautiful drive with very little traffic, enabling is to drive slow and enjoy the scenery. It was a sunny day with blue... More

We entered the scenic highway out of Boulder. From that point forward every bend, every turn, every incline and decline was filled with amazing views. As you rise in elevation out of Boulder stunning rock formations guide your way as you meander through the canyon. A rushing whitewater river flows along your path until you reach Boulder Falls. The views... More

This route was amazing. Easy to go with two kids under 5. We stopped a few times to get out and look Around. Stopped at the casino ameristar in their deli for sandwiches to go. Hopped back in can and headed on down to Georgetown loop train.

We drove up as far as possible because of the snow higher up, took lots of pictures and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Saw few elk, since apparently they're all down in town. Don't miss this drive.

My review comes from the experiences I had while navigating to Estes after the floods of September 2013 ~ drove this beautiful stretch of road many times in accessing Estes ~ what a beautiful drive and mine was very special due to the fact that the aspen leaves were turning ~ a corridor of color leading in and out of... It will take your breath away literally and figuratively. You can't say you've been to Colorado without taking this drive. You won't be able to stop clicking your camera
