This is one that you have to see to believe. Set aside three or four hours minimum to see the museum, and don't forget to check out the Marines' Chapel and memorial walk behind the museum. Also the only museum in the DC area where you can get a pint...Semper Fidelis.

For those veterans and other's familiar with the contributions the Corp has made in it's 200 year history, to those simply curious about this service branch's unique esprit de Corp, the National Museum of the Marine Corps is well worth a visit. There is easy, quick access to the museum from the interstate, with plenty of free parking. The entrance... More

One of the best museums in the D.C. area, and a must-see for any Marine or anyone who appreciates the Corps. It can take a half-day to see everything, so allow enough time to go through each historical period of the Marine Corps, from the Revolutionary War to today. Each major war has a "scene", to immerse one in what... More

My 9 year old son has been to this museum 5 times. He loves it. If you have military or history interested kids or family, they will love it.

We went to our son's Marine Corps Commisioning ceremony at the museum. This was our first visit to the Musuem, and our first introduction to the military with a family member. Although we were only able to scratch the surface during this visit, we did find it to be very informative. There was so much to history to learn, many... More

Went for my husband, it got me in so many ways. What a tribute to the people who have served our country. Absolutely loved our time there, has to be the best museum we have ever entered. Cannot recommend it more highly.

Informative exhibits, they used many aspects of media - video, stills, text, audio, dioramas, etc. - which made the whole museum fresh and interesting. My wife and I spent several hours there, and agreed that we would return with our elementary age children. It's not just posterboard with pictures, they have mockups of some planes, rooms set up entirely in... More

This is a fantastic museum. It lays out the history of the USMC in an interesting way that does not go into excessive detail while avoiding being superficial in its explanations. This is a fun museum for all ages. The pride of the USMC comes through in every aspect of the museum - I was extremely impressed.

First, let's get this out of the way - this is a most impressive facility. The folks there genuinely care about telling the story of the U.S. Marine Corps, and they do it well. I left with a greater sense of what Marines have endured to protect and expand our freedoms. It's worth a return visit, especially as they expand... More

If you are in the area, you must visit this museum. The landscape around the building offers a chapel up a short hill with monuments all along the walking paths. The museum has done a fantastic job with ‘life like’ simulations from the different war eras.
