Probably the best visit in Albuquerque and if our visit was any indication it is largely undiscovered. The museum is large, relatively new, and with excellent information on the history of hot air and gas ballooning both worldwide and in Albuquerque. Details on long distance balloon flights including one completed just a few weeks ago that I had not even... More

I have never been to anything quite like this in my life The morning glow was awesome. I truly enjoyed helping the people there get set up to fly. The only real ripoff I saw was if you wanted to fly in one of the ballons. Come on, all those great people there and you have to go through one... More

loved learning about the history of the balloons! The gift shop has lots of nice mementos and the videos of past festivals was very educational

This is a very unique museum that gives you a very intimate understanding of the impact that balloons have made. From the scientific side to the historical, we all learned something here. Highly recommend visiting for a great family experience.

As a Hot Air Balloon Pilot, this museum meant a lot to me as it touched on this history of the sport as well as provided displays and information on the experimental side. The movies of the festivals (mass ascensions) along with the will preserved displays from the early days of ballooning were very much appreciated. This is a can't... More

I can only say that this museum is wonderful. We here in NM owe the pleasure of this fiesta, museum, notoriety, to the families and "explorers", the Anderson Family, The Abruzzo Family, the Clark Family, and the crews for the Double Eagle II- I am sure I missed some names, but these mentioned were the "forefathers" of ballooning In NM-... We spent about an hour or so in this museum of air balloons. Nice displays and interesting stories. Senior 65 years admission is only $2. A little surprise side visit in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

During our stay in Albuquerque we checked Trip Advisor to find the highest rated attractions in the area, and the Balloon Museum was far up on the list. So on Friday the 13th Hubby and I headed out to explore. The employee at the admissions counter was fantastic, providing helpful information before we even set foot in the door. And... More

I am usually observant, however I didn't realize that the museum structure looks like a hot air balloon resting on its side until I was leaving. The museum has a great open floor plan, with many items small and large to keep a person moving from display to display. I especially enjoyed the lighted display showing the around the world... We happened to be there when the most recent world record was set for distance was made. Great memories. We were able to meet and talk with the Mission Control Center people.
