I can only say that this museum is wonderful. We here in NM owe the pleasure of this fiesta, museum, notoriety, to the families and "explorers", the Anderson Family, The Abruzzo Family, the Clark Family, and the crews for the Double Eagle II- I am sure I missed some names, but these mentioned were the "forefathers" of ballooning In NM-... We spent about an hour or so in this museum of air balloons. Nice displays and interesting stories. Senior 65 years admission is only $2. A little surprise side visit in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

During our stay in Albuquerque we checked Trip Advisor to find the highest rated attractions in the area, and the Balloon Museum was far up on the list. So on Friday the 13th Hubby and I headed out to explore. The employee at the admissions counter was fantastic, providing helpful information before we even set foot in the door. And... More

I am usually observant, however I didn't realize that the museum structure looks like a hot air balloon resting on its side until I was leaving. The museum has a great open floor plan, with many items small and large to keep a person moving from display to display. I especially enjoyed the lighted display showing the around the world... We happened to be there when the most recent world record was set for distance was made. Great memories. We were able to meet and talk with the Mission Control Center people.

Honestly, we didn't expect much from this visit, but were we surprised! It is a well-laid out floor plan that allows one to start in any gallery to piece together the history of ballooning. We especially enjoyed the use of balloons in a military setting as well as competition artifacts. Seeing the dimensions of gondolas for transatlantic flights is incredible.... More

This museum covers the history of ballooning from the 18th century hot air balloons to balloons used in warfare to balloons used in upper atmosphere research. It is very well done.

Well laid out floor plan. All I had to do was follow the numbers for the exhibits to learn about helium and hot air ballooning. Enjoyed it tremendously. The gift shop was loaded with colorful balloon gifts. We walked out with some. I would thoroughly recommend this museum.

This is not terrifically big, but it's full of unique items and displays. Also close to SW jewelry stores with one-of-a-kind items. Ballooning is a significant part of the Albuquerque charm, history, and culture. Don't miss this.
