Go early on a zoo concert night and you can see the animals before the concert. Summer zoo concerts are every week and the symphony comes here too.

I have been visiting the Rio Grande Zoo for years with my children when they were young, and, now, with my 5 year old grandson. It has really improved over the years with natural settings for the animals and a climbing area for the kids. In the summer there is water for play. There are a few places to get... More

Military discount. Wasn't too expensive to get in for two. The parking was strange, since we had to park way down the street in front of a janky looking house. The animals were nice, but the a lot of the cages had trash. We were behind on of the custodians that was clearly supposed to pick up trash, but he... More

When my children were younger and we lived in NM this was our favorite spot to meet Grandma and spend the day. We loved the animals, their habitats and how you felt you were right there with them. The zoo is easily walkable in a day with green spots of resting and fun for everyone. Now its the one place... More

What a gorgeous zoo. There is so much to see. We just did a squeeze-in visit, but we will be going back so we can do the combo ticket and take in the aquarium, aquatic park and botanical garden as well. Very clean, nice walking distance, and not overly crowded for a Saturday. Excellent places to take a picnic lunch.

This was a great choice to keep a wide range of kids entertained. Our kids ranged in age from 8-16. Everyone had a great time. We were able to take our time and enjoy the animals. The crowds were manageable. A good time was had by all.

We did the combo pack from the botanical garden to the zoo which meant that we rode the train between the park. We also rode the train around the zoo. This is an all day event, so give yourself plenty of time. This zoo has a koala and tree kangaroos, not something that most have. It also had a baby... More

Well laid out zoo with lots to see. Baby elephant, Tazmanizn Devil, Baby Great Apes of several species, Snakes, turtles, night dewling creatures etc. Very clean and the animals seem to have adequate space and seem comfortable. Primates galore with good human food as well. Prices for entry are very low and the food is not over priced. Great for... More

Smaller zoo, very walk-able. The Tasmanian Devil is rare in US zoos and yet this zoo has one. The only reptile house I have ever been in that didn't smell. A great selection of habitats and animals. Combine with the aquarium for a full day of fun.

We arrived at opening (9am) which was a great idea for several reasons...parking, crowds and because we were able to see several animals being fed. Also we were told the animals are more active in the morning. It is clean. the staff is very friendly. There is a wonderful open park area...pack a lunch.
