Having toured a few historic homes, this one is pretty neat. You start in the basement for an intro to a tobacco baron family history. Depending on which guide you get, some go into more detail then others but none are disappointing. Once you move up to the first floor, you are awed by the opulence on display. Even with... More

A house museum with some of the original furnishings. Presidents Lincoln and Taft were once guests here. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and guides.

Very worthwhile. Great tour guide. I lived in the area for many years before finally visiting this summer and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful magnolias and weeping willow tree on property. This is in an urban area (guide explains that surrounding property once was part of the mansion's property but was divided/sold for income), so don't expect acres to wander around... More

I love the history of this home and historical ties to so many in our history. People will overlook this gem but should definitely stop by for a visit.

My my wife and I visited on April 16, 2015, as part of our Petersburg Museums Block Ticket. Interesting. Our guide, Gene, was nice.

The mansion was used for filming LINCOLN and several other movies and television series. What a place it must have been once! The floors, the wallpaper, the furnishings are all noteworthy. And did I mention that it's "haunted"? The White Lady supposedly roams the grounds, and occasionally Union Soldiers are heard to traipse up and down the steps. Wow. The... More

A beautifully house that should and could be a another jewel amongst those open to the public in Virginia. However, it is in desperate need of funds to restore it to its glory. This mansion has a story of historic value that is fast disappearing. The docents are good.

Ordinarily, I don't opt for visits of historic houses while on vacation. However, recently, I was a driver for a group of out-of-towners, who were spending the day in Petersburg. One of the places they visited was Centre Hill Mansion. I'm glad they opted for this historic house, and I'm glad I went. Making the experience very enjoyable was our... More

An interesting structure for those with an architectural eye, combining Federal, Greek and Colonial revival styles. The tour gives you a glimpse at life during the 1800's, the rooms decorated with original furnishings. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative, making sure to point out details in the woodworks significant to the home's history. The only downside is that there... More
