Texas Hiway 4 goes east to the Gulf past sand marshes and grasslands. The closer you get to the end of the road you will start seeing the horizon become hilly with whitish lines running up and down the "hills" in the distance. Sand dunes! The pavement ends and you can drive onto the beach but follow the main tracks... More

Boca Chica State Park is about a 10-mile stretch of sand from the mouth of the Rio Grande River at the south end to the Brownsville Ship Channel at the north end. It is at the end of Texas Hwy. 4. Landlubbers would be well-advised, especially in the winter, to check tide tables before making the trip out if the... More

Boca Chica is the end of the world...deserted, wild beach and sand dunes - gives you the feeling of being the only people left on earth. Lots of shelling and fishing but no amenities. If you need it, you should bring it. One of the last places you can go to see true nature as it was a hundred years... More

Out at the end of the road, but it's a lovely beach with driving on the sand permitted. There were several groups meeting (OHV's) but there was plenty of room for all

This is a neat place to visit! There's not much to do other than fish and bird watch. If one wants to participate in water sports, you need to bring a vehicle that can work well with the sand. My cell phone signal was poor, so I highly recommend you come prepared. If you get stuck in the sand, you... More

I've spend a great deal of time there but not lately. On the weekends the local go there and it's usually pretty crowded. But during the week I've been out there and there is nothing but me and the surf and the sun. You are on your own out there and take what you need and please don't litter. It's... More

Very quiet, nice sand, didn't get into the water, but as others have noted you need to bring everything as there are no facilities of any kind. Absolutely no people on the beach. Just as we were leaving some fishermen drove up and settled down the beach some. My only issue was the trash. The barrels were not full yet... More

Great place if you like to get away from it all. We enjoyed walking the beach, wading in the tide, driving on the beach, or walking and picking up shells. There were a lot of people on the beach fishing and just enjoying the beach. To the north you can see south padre island. The drive to the beach seemed... More

When for the drive to see the beach, and drive it north, to the channel at the southern tip of South Padre Island. The entrance to the beach is free, and you enter at about the 1/2 way point between the Mexican border, and the channel at S.P.I. It's about 5 miles to the border, or to the channel. We... More

This Beach is for those of us who love getting away from it all, You can enjoy, walking, playing in the tide, fishing, driving, watching birds, or doing nothing at all. At one end you can see San Padre Island and the other the lighthouse on the Mexican Border.
