I havent been to the zoo since I was in high school and it was very enjoyable to walk around the zoo for 3 hours. My wife and I were surprised at how fast time the time had gone. We enjoyed how the young gorillas goof around with some of the adults, it was hilarious!

There is a wide variety of species of animals to observe at the zoo. They have just recently added a brand new aquarium which features a sting ray touch pool. They also added a few years back a playground with a splash area, so make sure you take an extra change of clothes for your little ones. My children look... More

Gladys Porter Zoo is an excellent zoo and sure to be a good time for all ages. It was one of the first zoos to display animals in mini-habitats that try to replicate a little bit of how they live in the wild. The large semi-open aviary is truly excellent. A local resaca (oxbow lake to the uninitiated) winds it's... More

We were there for an evening silent auction for an excellent cause. I was impressed with the aquarium and the reptile center which was kept open for us. The rest was closed to us for the evening. This zoo is very involved with conservation of endangered species. Some animals you not find in any other zoo across the world. The... More

This is a fairly small, cozy zoo. It's an older place and looks a bit dated, even a bit rundown, but it's a very pleasant place to walk about and look at the animals. Lots of water and vegetation, we were there on a very warm day, but because of the layout, we hardly noticed the heat. Lots of winding,... More

First time visiting this zoo. Liked the layout. Gave appearance of natural habitat for animals. Many interesting species and good explanation at each area.

The zoo is not very big but it has a lot to show. There are a lot of animals in unique surroundings. The aquarium is fun, especially touching the sting rays and the reptile area is one of the most unique I've seen. Some of the animals have babies and its a great thing to see them with the adults....
