Beautiful animals in a beautiful setting. Brownsville is lucky to be home to this attraction. One visit is not enough.

Beautiful landscaping with animals presented in their simulated natural habitats. The Zoo specializes in endangered species preservation. There are plenty of benches along the walkways on which to sit and rest or relax while observing the animals and the vegetation. There is a waterway that meanders through the Zoo for the water fowl to enjoy. There is also a playground... More

A small zoo compare to other zoos in the U.S. but all zoos are special in their own way. There are winding trails that offer different views of the animals in their environment. Most of these animals are in danger spices in which this zoo has pride of having a large group in just a small place. If a city... More

All the animals look like they are going insane, especially the chimpanzees and gorillas. the area they are in is too small for them. the kangaroos are crazy packed. the stench from the feces of the animals lingers in the air. My daughter cried when she saw the chimpanzees attacking one another. This zoo needs to be updated and expanded... More

We first tried to visit on Sunday. It was soooooooooo crowded that we came back on Monday. we practically had the whole zoo to ourselves. This is a very well planned out and mapped out zoo. I can not work for very long or very far and I appreciated the fact that there were many signs along the walk that... More

Not a huge Zoo like the San Diego Zoo in California but very well maintained. Nice selection of animals that appear to be healthy and happy. Great for the kids or grand-kids.

We visited the Gladys Porter Zoo on winter Texans day which gave us $4.50 admission with proof of being from out of state. The normal admission price is up to $10. It was a chilly overcast day and a lot of the animals were inside but still on display. There were a lot of winter Texans there and the zoo... More

This is fantastic zoo which should be supported by all who love community and a place where children in a wide area with out much resources can learn and experience amazing things. The zoo has a fantastic variety of animals and birds. What makes this zoo special also is the variety of semi tropical indigenous birds which come to the... More

My husband & I visited the zoo about 4 years ago. Since then, remodeling has gone on. The animals have increased in variety. Many animals are in natural settings & not in cages. The map was user-friendly & helpful. With friends visiting from NYS, a 4 yr. old & a 6 yr, old, the kids had a ball climbing on... More
