We rented a condo right on the Laguna Madre. Fishing is excellent, beautiful calm waters. Very nice view to wake up to 2 resident pelicans right out front, very entertaining! Saw a couple of Rosetta Spoonbills on the flats right across from our Condo when we kayaked over. Lots of residents fishing there.

There is a restaurant named Doc's that is pretty and has live music. Service was crazy slow and we waited well over an hour after ordering. Very breezy so bring a light sweater. waiter was super nice. Food was good. Spicier than described on menu.

This the biggest lagoon in the world so you have to spend some time there and its good for little kids since the wave are very small.

The Upper Laguna Madre is nothing like the natural beauty of the Lower Laguna Madre. It's full of man-made boat channels, boat houses, and wreckage of all sorts. It has a lot of big power lines and pipelines crisscrossing it. Much of the ULM is what I would classify as "urban" for fisheries, better suited to recreational boating, jet skis,... More

just hit a bad day I guess - a couple of small sea-trout and no redfish on the fly - different from Louisiana redfish areas

We saw plenty of different species of birds while driving along the shore. The cranes and herons look regal.

you see so many birds that are fun to watch. The gulf coast has so much to offer . Get on the move and travel those backroads. Come see Texas, it is a beautiful state.

We stayed right on the Laguna Madre and watched the birds every morning. It was wonderful and peaceful. You want to stay clear of the refinery though- it smells.

It's really nice, but just beware of the jellyfish. They are everywhere! If you want to swim, go further on North Padre Island drive where the water is a bit more rough. The jellies seem to like the water that is still. Pretty view.
