The gardens were beautiful, I loved the colors and how the gardens were set up. Walking through the gardens I saw flowers I wasn't familiar with and some I was, I love flowers and nature and this lived up to the signs they had posted.

The South Texas Botanical Gardens isn't as big and doesn't have the pizazz or refinement of some of its larger and more well-known cousins. From that standpoint, it is an average attraction. It does have a fairly long nature trail that takes you through a wetlands area (unfortunately dry when we visited) and along a creek to display the native... More

Wonderful trails and lookouts, over sand flats, (not mud, sand) all ponds are gone. would be wonderful if they were full. a few birds in cages, interesting greenhouses, but without the ponds, insects and birds stay home.

First ever visit. We loved the butterflies. There was so many of them and the trails were fun to walk. It kept us busy for sometime exploring around the trail and looking at the art work. The staff we saw were friendly

Gardens was small, animals and birds in cages, butterfly pavilion was nice. Very hot day and few places to sit in the shade. Wetland overlook was OK for bird watching. Very interesting and eclectic collection of art work throughout the gardens. Drove from Port Aransas to see, so was disappointed there was not more of a collection of plants and... More

It's been a year since I visited there. It's a small area but many beautiful plants packed into it. I especially liked the Orchid exhibit and the Butterfly exhibit. They were outstanding!

While there are some beautiful flowers and plants, this is much more than that. There is a great butterfly exhibit where they fly all around you, and might even land on your head if you are still. There are several wetland boardwalks, and several lookouts, and a nice pond with with many birds. There is an outstanding children's playground area... More

The flower gardens were lovely, the exotic birds were interesting (if noisy), and the butterflies were pretty. But, I did not feel comfortable following the trails myself because of the constant posted warnings about deadly snakes in the area. Not to mention passing "gator" lake.... The gift shop is GREAT!

I am not super into flowers or plants but I was hoping to enjoy a nice long walk around the gardens and enjoy the beautiful weather and flora/fauna. That's exactly what I got! I loved the birds and the butterfly house, and really enjoyed the metal sculptures throughout the area that is part of a limited-time art exhibition. I suggest... More

Visited on a beautiful March day. There were various parrots, butterflies, orchids and bromeliads to see. It took around an hour to tour the area which included a walk along a granite trail.
