It can be a magical place for children. My daughter loves the birds butterflies, and the variety of gardens.

I have enjoyed watching the Botanical Center grow since it's beginning. Now it is a masterpiece of design and horticulture. The wandering paths are truly beautiful and peaceful. The events are fun for all ages. When I need horticulture advice of any type, I go to the experts there who have always been more than helpful. Great brochures and information... More

We decided to stop here since we have a membership that gets us in for free. We were somewhat skeptical when we arrived. The places didn't look like it had much to offer. We were way wrong, and I'm glad we stopped. With it being June and the heat is in full swing I was weary of how much there... More

We had a lot of fun walking around the grounds and looking at all the plants. Each area is grouped together by certain plants---- The Rose Garden---- Butterfly Exhibit, etc... Also, ther e are many different types of birds and reptiles to see. We were not able to take the trail to the lake because it rained the night before... More

Nice place to walk around and see typical South Texas flora and, if you are lucky, some of the local reptilian fauna. The gardens have a selection of tropical birds to view and you can also see many of the local waterfowl in the creek and ponds. A great place for families and couples.

I loved the beautiful gardens. My favorite part of the visit was The Eleanor Parrot that liked to dance and talk. I also loved the Lemon Plumeria Blossoms - very fragrant.

Our family loved our visit to the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center. Despite the heat, we had a great time seeing all the different plants. The succulent area was very impressive and there were nice trails to walk along. Our favorite part was the beautiful rose garden. We took so many pictures! Don't forget your walking shoes, water... I was a little worried pulling in the parking lot, it looked so small and like a place that just sells plants. However, we were pleasantly surprised after we finished. This is a great little place. There is a trail that loops around. A great walk with a great trail. There is even a butterfly enclosure where you can walk... More

This is a beautiful property. Even though you will find just about any type of flower that will grow in South Texas represented here, you will also find a wonderful Orchid House, reptile exhibit and a bird sanctuary. There is lots to see and do for people of all ages.

Nifty stuff to see, but make sure to go early in the day if visiting in the summer. Trails were nice but sure got hot. Even though I visited during a drought, there were things to look at. Nice.
