Visited on a late Tuesday afternoon just by happenstance. We weren't looking for this spot, but glad we found it. Seemed to be low key. Only a few fishermen out the there. It was definitely very peaceful.

A little hard to get to but fun to take a try at fishing in the bay for a very small cost. Success is as good as any other pier fishing in the area.

Bird watchers know to visit Aransas Pass and the beaches on Mustang and Padre Island. We found this place my accident on our first trip and stop here each time for shore birds. We got our lifer Long-billed Curlew here in February, 2002. It's off Rt. 35 between Corpus and Portland. On Google maps it's part of Sunset Lakes Park.

Lots of parking and the boardwalks and pier were in good condition. The amount of litter was a bit discouraging though.

Our family will no longer be visiting the area due to poor fishing facilities. The bait stand closed several years ago . Many of the lights are out on a regular basis(over half right now). Drunks are allowed to spend nights there and occasionally drug use. The lack of lights leads to fights between fishermen and stolen gear. I suggest... More

Very nice small park. Although we did not fish here, it must be good fishing as we saw a lot of locals fishing here , both from shore ,out in the surf. and from the pier. Lots of birds and a very nice pier to walk out onto which is above the marshy area where the birds are. We did... More

This is a great place to walk and see birds. Indian point is between Downtown Corpus Christi and Portland. This is on the Bay, so its not as good fishing as Bob Hall, but it is a blast anyway. The wind can get awfully high here also.
