View Over the Water

If you want to get out over the Gulf to see the beach or water, then pay the small fee to go out on the pier. Also, many locals and visitors go fishing off the pier.

It was windy and cool, but lots of kids were in the water having fun. We just watched from the car but it looked like a fun place for families.

If you want to fish off a pier this OK but not much else except the water view. You could walk the Beach but you do not need the pier for that

When the weather is nice and the water is clear. It is a great place to take the whole family. Get to see what everyone is catching, and you always can see some type of fish in the water.

Nice long pier, good fishing, pleasant atmosphere. Watch out for the crowds during the mackeral run though. Of course this is expected because everyone loves fresh fish! Just wish there were more lights in the water as this is where everyone wants to fish. Too easy to get tangled up with the person fishing beside you - once again to... More

This pier is used heavily by Pices obsessed a'fish'ionados. Each 'run' (including Shark) Whiting, brings the devotees to toss out lines by the hundreds, attempting to pull in the fish of their imagination. Food on the table is reason enough for many. Sport is another reason, pastime yet another, as well as camaraderie. 'Google Earth' this unique pier, somewhat near... More

This was a free beach area, no beach pass required. There is an annual beach pass for the other beaches in the area. Caution of the undertow near the pier if you have small kids.

Went to drop my rock off and as I was walking down the pier, saw alot of people on their cellphones and Ipads, not really talking to each other. Good to know you can bring your own chairs and a push cart/ wagon to carry everything for you. Price wasn't bad. Bathroom was decent.

I came to this pier with my dad. It's always been a good place to fish. Lots of memories, with access to beaches and Padre Island National Seashore.

Well, for one thing we just wanted to take a look and browse the pier. We were not going to fish but least we could see what it was about for our next visit, disappointing that they were going to charge us just to look in and take a quick 10 minute stroll or so. Not what we expected at... More
