Thousands of animals representing over 330 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular visitor attraction has welcomed over 10 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is connecting people with nature and inspiring the conservation of the Gulf of Mexico. « less

Its not a big Aquarium but the kid love it, the animals and the water park. Rate is moderate and has a lot for kids to explore and learn from the sea

This is the best alternative to the beach when it rains on your planned beach day -- or the kiddies are bored. In the downtown area but still near enough to parks and the bay beaches, and for older ones or Dad, the Lexington, too.

We take any visitors to our home (young and old) to visit our aquarium. There is a great out door show and always changing exhibits? The outdoor splash park is a hit with our grandchildren. There is a snack bar inside, lovely gift show too. There are many places to eat near it as well as, places to stay.

There are lots of good exhibits and things to see. The "Birds of Prey" exhibit outside is worth it, so when you get there look at the schedule to make sure it fits in your plan. Little kids really like the hands-on exhibit on the lower level. And, on a nice sunny day the kids love running thru the interactive... More

Although we considered this to be overpriced, we still enjoyed the day. On a positive note, we really enjoyed the dolphins, the interaction with the stingrays and the aquarium. Some of the presentations turned out to be lectures which were informative but not visually stimulating, the otter, although very cute, was a lonely sight in need of a friend, if... More

I thought the layout was superb and the animals were great! We also enjoyed the views of the beach, the water, the USS Lexington, the bridge and watching ships come in. I thought the dolphins made the trip but was fascinated learning that this is a 2nd chance aquarium! I highly recommend adding to your trip. Although we got in... More
