The architecture in this church is amazing and is a must see. You can walk right in and marvel at it's beauty.

It is a very nice building with a lot of detail put into it. See it before temple square, because it doesn't hold a candle to it. Worth seeing though.

If you get "all-Mormoned-out," this place can provide the antidote. Just down the street from Temple Square, this is a beautiful cathedral. The outside seems Gothic, complete with gargoyles. The inside features some artistic surprises in its brightly-colored columns, and a series of stylized Stations of the Cross paintings with nature themes. Well worth a visit.

This cathedral is breath taking inside and out. The stained glass windows are amazing. The frescos are beautiful. The arched ceilings are awesome. While I was there, the organist was practicing and filled the cathedral with the most heavenly music. This is a "must see" in Salt Lake City.

Don't overlook this gem, and please consider donating if you like what you see / hear. I was there and heard an organ recital and was stunned by the incredible acoustics...and the beautiful stained glass, too.

Definitely visit when the children are giving concerts. The Opera Concerts bring in Utah Opera people and they are wonderful. The children singing along with them have angel voices and the setting sets the stage. Proud parents fill the pews so you must come early to get a seat. During the holidays the concerts are beautiful. A wonderful set of... More

Wonderful mass at this beautiful cathedral. The choir was outstanding and the mass suitably reverent. You can take guided tours but, at the end of the service, I enjoyed just walking around looking at the wonderful building while listening to the superb post Due on the organ.

Nice that the cathedral was open for us to visit. They have a tour at 1...we just missed it. Like the baptismal pool.

I love churches and the older the better. This is a beautiful church just down the road from Temple square.

The construction of The Cathedral of the Madeleine was begun in the year 1900 and completed in 1909. On August 15 of that year, the cathedral was dedicated by Cardinal James Gibbons of Baltimore. The architects were Carl M. Newhausen and Bernard O. Mecklenburg. The cathedral combines a predominately Romanesque exterior with a Gothic interior. The exterior of the cathedral... More
