Happened to visit in the middle of a high school graduation rehearsal. Spectacular inside, the altar, side chapels, stained glass. Just 3 blocks east of temple square. Shows the difference in the ways religions worship Christ. A cathedral dedicated to Mary.

This cathedral is definitely worth a visit. We were not able to attend Mass; however, we did stop by and the artwork and statues were just lovely...very holy, peaceful and prayerful atmosphere.

Nice old building. Catholic mass twice a day. It has a lovely choir too..... And it has gargoyles on the top! I did not inquire, but maybe they would offer trips to the top of the church. Go in for some peaceful prayer and inspiration.

It's very beautiful, with that said make sure you use the restroom before you go cause you will be dined access, the reason given homeless and vandals. I did witness a vandal throw a big object in the church while there.

A beautiful setting for religious services...or for a simple meditative break. The Cathedral is a "living" monument to the unique history of the state and city. If the Choir is performing, try to catch them. They sound positively angelic in the setting.

Enjoyed the beautiful murals and construction of this church. Extensive stain glass windows. Only negative is steps to go up to enter. Restored 15 years ago so looks like it did 100 years ago.

Beautiful Cathedral and stunning architecture. Soaring, hand-painted ceilings, intricate stained glass windows, statues, icons, all everything you would expect from a first rate urban cathedral. Worth checking out.

The colors, the history, the peacefulness. The location is great, just 6 blocks up Temple St. from Temple Square. Look online for the history of this church, and the details of its remodeling. I loved the wood floors and the murals. Stay awhile and feel the contentment and peace within. I gave a contribution to the poor box at the... More

The Cathedral of the Madeline is a beautiful early 20th century Gothic/Romanesque mix and boasts a long history in SLC as the home of the Catholic Church and its diocese. In a city thought of predominantly for the Mormons, this church and its leadership has contributed to the religious make-up of SLC. The building itself is as well maintained as... More
