Had to come for an event and was amazed at the architecture and the decor inside. It's like no other cathedral or church I've ever seen, if you're nearby, definitely take a few minutes and stop by.

The gorgeous piece of round stained glass is certainly a focal point. The interior has been redone within the last few years and it is worth the trip to see. Downstairs could use some updating, but the upstairs is peaceful and serene.

The doors are open to all at the Cathedral of Madeline whose patron saint is Mary Magdalene. The cathedral was completed in 1909 and is on the Registry of Historic Places. Gargoyles and beautiful stained glass add to the beauty of it's Neo-Romanesque exterior design. You will also find a plaque honoring it's first bishop Lawrence Scanlon. The Neo-Gothic interior... Just make sure to get there early so you get a good seat. Though most of the up front seats are saved for church members! Also, plan ahead for parking.

Okay, keep in mind that this is a member of the LDS church writing this review. The Cathedral of the Madeline is reminiscent of European structure and architecture. I love to go inside and enjoy the beauty within. I'm happy to have a little bit of religious diversity in the heart of downtown Salt Lake, even in the building types.

I was surprised to see how much wood was used on the interior. There are large stations of the cross, wood, stained, with insets. I've never seen anything like it. The pipes from the organ emirate from over the choir loft in the direction of the altar. It would be a treat to hear them at Mass but had to... More

You won't see a lot of architecture like this in Salt Lake City. The Cathedral of the Madeline is beautiful inside and out. The stained glass is beautiful and throws color throughout the cathedral.

This is a beautiful cathedral that is open pretty much the entire day if I remember correctly. The artwork is Native American-influenced, and the Stations of the Cross inside depict Jesus as a Native American man, which is pretty unique. The colors inside are amazing, especially in the central cupola behind the altar. It's worth taking a look inside, if... More

Tours are weekly on Tuesdays at 1 pm by Monsignor M. Francis Mannion. Filled with fascinating history and detail, the tour is one for all faiths. The art contained in the cathedral includes classical, regional, and modern.

My traveling friend saw this in the city guide and asked me to take her there. As far as I am concerned, this beats the Temple by far. Somehow, they have automated the pipe organ to play throuout the day. I loved hearing the Heavenly music playing in an old sanctuary. It was like being in the very presence of... More
