Gorgeous venue and fabulous show! The lobby with the guilded crystal chandeliers is very impressive.

Attended a matinee performance of 42nd Street with friends, and we all loved the show! Love the charm and beauty of this old theater - I am sad to hear they are building a new venue for SLC. I hope they keep this theater going, perhaps bringing in different types of musical acts as well as theater. SLC needs a... More

If you love live theater and happen to be in SLC, this is a great place to see traveling broadway casts do their thing...most popular broadway performances that come through Salt Lake come to the Capitol Theater. They keep everything very professional.

Wheelchair seating in the theater has recently improved dramatically. New seating in the middle of the theater on the orchestra level about 4 rows back means no longer having the sit off to the sides of the theater and having to wait for staff to bring out ramps to make a level seating area. Kudos to the theater for making... More

We attend Opera, special theater productions, and sometimes ballet in this classic, old and beautiful theater. Our seats are always good from every vantage point. Recent renovations have improved the acoustics. We recommend attending whatever is playing there when you are visiting SLC. We look forward to seeing the Broadway play, The Book of Mormon this August!

You can count on Ballet West to just get better and better every year, and they did not disappoint this year. The quality of their dancing and precision of lines is excellent. I highly recommend seeing a performance.

I lived in Salt Lake City for 35 years and went to many productions at this old, lovely theater. I saw Cats, Beauty and the Beast and Phantom of the Oprah. They were all wonderful. The theater dates back to the 1800's I think and it's just so beautiful inside. Something you should not miss when in SLC

Maybe it's nostalgia from my grandmother taking us to see the Nutcracker ballet every Christmastime growing up, but this theater is one of my favorite places in SLC. I highly recommend seeing a ballet, but theater productions are awesome here too. It's elegant and beautiful, and the sound quality is very good. The character of the theater itself adds to... More

One of the first things one should know before attending a play here is that there are not even bathrooms. No where near enough! During break we immediately left for the bathrooms. I was shocked to see the line that had already formed but having attended other plays at other venues I wasn't too concerned until after 10 minutes I... More
