I spent a fun, early afternoon trip to skate at the Valda E. Tarbet skating rink at the Gallivan Center. One of the attendants, Rebecca, was quite helpful in making sure that I had what I needed to make my skating experience as fun as possible. She told me when they needed to clean off the snow from the ice... More

Ice skating was a blast (even with all the younger kids goofing around). $8 for skating and skates rental. Lots of fun for a date night. Nice central location.

the summer concerts held here are nice, despite the smallish size of the plaza. The winter ice skating is a bit cheesy with all the couples dates, but everyone does have fun and it is a nice inexpensive date.

In the summer there are regular outdoor concerts held here, with some notable bands and artists displaying their talents. It is great to see so many people embrace the music and culture, it makes you feel like you are in a different city than Salt Lake more often than not In the winter, the ice skating is a great way... I must admit that the last time I came downtown for New Years Eve it was more than a decade ago. My wife was expecting our first child and the cold night air was brisk and vibrant. That was then and now..... It was just as fun! We loved skating on the ice rink while musicians played in the frigid... More

The Gallivan is a nice little "park" (not a lot of trees but plenty of benches and tables) taking up most of a city block in downtown Salt Lake City. Often the site of small free concerts and merchandise booths. Close to a few small restaurants. Good place to eat your lunch during work.

few people know about gallivan plaza unless you live here in Salt Lake. It is a great place carefully tucked away in the center of downtown.

The Gallivan Center is located just about right in the middle of downtown Salt Lake. The office building is on the corner and to the east of the building is a large plaza with an ice skating rink, benches to sit and enjoy the gardens, and a stage where concerts are held - usually local groups. It's a great place... More

Since they rebuilt the place, parking is impossible and the venue is always so crowded...we'll go someplace else to wait 45 minutes in a beer line.
