I went in 2008, and it was absolutely fabulous. You go into the Night Creatures section, and come face to face with a bat-eared fox. Near the Monkey House, a huge glode-like structure where you can see some of the smaller primates. and many other things. Just two things irked me. 1.) There is no traffic light or pedestrian signal... more
I went to the zoo about five years ago, and it was okay. I was very excited to take my babies to the zoo (2 years and 8 months) because I was sure they'd have more animals and it would be awesome. I was SO DISAPPOINTED. The zoo just keeps taking away animals, and half of the displays are empty.... more
If you need to spend some time in SLC with your kids, the zoo is a good option. It is not a great zoo, but very well organized and clean. I recommend it if you have kids. more
I think I may have visted on the off season? A lot of animals seemed to be off exibit or just not there. The elephant were great. We even got to watch a little show and see them eat some pumpkins. Overall I think it was good. Very quiet. But the animals that we did see were great. I liked... more

Each visit I think there is no way they could have fewer animals on display, and each visit they prove me wrong! Food is WAY overpriced, so bring your... more
I live fairly close to the Hogle zoo, so I have taken my kids there many times. Some days the animals are very active and other days they aren't-that is just how it goes. We usually get at least one group of animals who make the trip interesting. Such as the tigers pacing and making a hurump sound. the Giraffe... more
I bought a family pass for $50 dollars and it is well worth the money. My two year old loves it and my baby likes the fresh air. We go about once a month for two hours a time. Last time we were within feet of a lion (between glass, of course,). We also saw a baby giraffe, and followed... more
