Having just come from the Washington State Ferry, I was surprised at how small and expensive the Black Ball Ferry was. It was nearly $100 compared to the $20 in Seattle. But because its a private business and the only operator between Port Angeles and Victoria, that is their right, and they certainly try to make it worth the value.... More

We debated taking a ferry from Seattle to Victoria, but most of what we found were more of a sightseeing trip that took several hours. Since we were planning on visiting Olympic National Park, this was the perfect way to ferry. We didn't know what to expect, but there is food service, restrooms, inside (warm) and outside (breezy and chilly)... More

The crossing from Port Angeles to Victoria and back a couple days later went very smoothly. We do recommend booking online days ahead. Having a reservation saves you a spot on the ferry which is very busy during the summer.

I travel on Black Ball often, but was not impressed with their recent Lavender Festival Tour. Poorly organized and most time was spent waiting for buses. On leaving as a walk-on passenger at night, there was no lighting on the ship end of the gangway and it was hard to see your footing. Otherwise, I like this ferry line and... More

It was easy to make an on-line reservation. They are very efficient when loading and unloading the cars. Once under way, it is a comfortable ride in the observation lounge as well as out on the deck in the fresh air.

I have taken the Black Ball a number of times from Port A to Victoria. It is a convenient and direct way to visit Victoria without the hassle of paying to take your car on or deal with the Peace Arch border at Blaine, Washington. The ride takes about an hour and 1/2 and it drops you right in downtown... More

We have taken the Black Ball ferry from Port Angeles, Washington to Victoria many times - and usually it has been enjoyable. However, this time wasn't as delightful. First, a major accident on I-5 near Portland caused us to miss the 5:20 PM ferry we had reserved. I called to see if there was room on the last (9:30 PM)... More

My husband & I have enjoyed the service of the Black Ball Ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles for many years. We make a reservation at https://www.cohoferry.com/ On the appointed day we park our truck & camper in line a couple of hours before sailing. Then, we are free to walk the inner harbour & have a delicious lunch in... More

Make a reservation to guarantee passage on weekend ferries. Clean, organized and efficient ferry. For the 8:15 AM ferry lines begin forming at 6:30 AM. Have tour passport ready to show the ferry personnel as you begin to line up.

Took the Black Ball ferry line over to Victoria. They have a monopoly, so no choices, but it didn't matter. On the way over there were fiddlers in mid-ship area. I have no idea whether or not the ship paid them or whether they were spontaneous musicians. I liked it all the same. There is food, a little gift shop,... More
