If you don't know Lanier's history, this is not much of a visit1 Turns out he was basically just born in the house. Interesting antiques, small gift shop, but not a place to go out of your way to.

Toured this home one Saturday, and was the only ones on the tour. The home is not that majastic as some of the other older homes in Macon, but our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Sidney Lanier and his life, which is what the tour is mainly about. He was only born in the home, he was not raised... More

Hidden in downtown off the beaten path. Good place to spend the day, interesting history about Sidney Lanier and his family. He was a poet in the 1800's. Fought in the War between the states. Died young, in his 30's from tuberculosis, if I remember correctly.

I was here for a family wedding last weekend. It's an excellent venue for a wedding or private party. All of the wedding party had an excellent time. Living in somewhat nearby South Carolina, I'd recommend spring or fall use of this location.

A real good example of a cottage in Georgia. Not a Mansion but a great home to see how things were in the past.

I have visited this structure many times. It is a wonderful venue for a private social event as well as a fine location to learn some history.

I visited this wonderful cottage on Saturday. Bernard gave the best tour of any historical home I have ever had. If you can, take your time in this beautiful gem. There is so much to know about Sidney Lanier, and his life. My time there really made me want to pick up a good book on Sidney Lanier, and dive... More

Experienced this beautiful location for a friend's wedding reception. It was a beautiful place with the feel of a southern home of a by gone era.

It's a sweet little cottage with interesting items to view and perhaps be inspired to read a few poems of Lanier's Georgia tributes. Put it on your list along with several other stops in Macon. The walking tour would be worth your while and the cottage can be among the stops to round out your feeling of Georgia past and... More
