Very good views here of Buzzards Bay and the Elizabeth Islands including Naushon, Nashawena, Pasque and Cuttyhunk. There is a museum here as well.

i'm always telling my friends about how historic New Bedford/ fairhaven is and whenever i bring them down to Mass i feel as if i HAVE to show them Fort Taber. Although it's a shame i have to pay to get in. The sites are perfect of a bluebird day. Some places are a little eerie, however there is a... More

Fort Taber park overlooks Buzzard's Bay and is a great spot for a stroll on nice days. You will find yourself with a lot of company, including cyclists and dog walkers.

Fort Taber Military Museum is in the charming, old Whaling town of New Bedford, located in Ft. Taber-Fort Rodman Park. The Museum looks small, but is big in Military history. It’s staffed by veteran volunteers who truly enhance the visit with personal stories and stories from prior visitors. Exhibits cover all military branches from the Revolutionary War thru Operation Enduring... More

Fine site on a peninsula protecting New Bedford harbor, fort designed by Robert E. Lee while he was still US Army, but we can't access the fort itself so it's an accessory to a lovely park which is otherwise not worth a visit from someone not from New Bedford and seeking a sea view.

There is a military museum on the grounds that shouldn't be missed. It covers from the civil war to the war in Afganistan. With pictures and memorabilia. So impressive!

We went to New Bedford specifically to see the Whaling Museum (we live about an hour away). Because the Whaling Museum only took us a few hours to go through and it was a sunny day, we decided to drive out to Fort Taber Park. It is much as the other reviewers have described, so I'll try not to repeat... More

I grew up in New Bedford & return frequently to visit my parents. I love visiting the Fort. Its a big loop, nicely paved path. The path is so nice my husband & I like to roller blade on it. The ocean is on 3 sides of the fort. Gorgeous ocean views, big grassy areas for kite flying, picnics, Frisbee,... More
