I feel funny giving a south Maui beach an average rating, but it is only because there is a much nice beach, just north of this one, and another one a few miles south of here. The sand is soft as one would expect, but the beach does not extend as afar as others in the area. There is also... More

Clean sandy beach. If you snorkel go toward the Marriott for turtles and large reef. Beach is small with soft beige sand. Not overly crowded. Waves are good for children.

This reef is huge and is about 20ft tall at the dropoff. Really clear water and lots of fish. Beach is great for kids Sandy and no rocks in the water and not very big waves or any dropoff. Parking lot has about 30 to 40 spots and all were full with lineups of people waiting. We went to anzak... More

Maybe it's because beaches in Wailea carry the Wailea brand that their reputation seems to precede them. The reality is that there is nothing special about them. They are nice but narrow with relatively wild water. Not a lot of sand.

We stayed a whole day in this nice and quiet beach in Wailea. There were a lot of sea turtles near the shore.

More parking now available since andaz has opened their doors, toilet and shower facilities, great diving gear seats to gear up for a great diving at Ulua Beach. Snorkelers love this place too. Just clean up the beaches for the next to come.

Our second visit. Beach is very gradual entry with no rocks that i saw, and therefore great for kids or folks trying to get in with snorkel gear for the first time. Best reef we have seen but fish density was down from last year. Definitely good snorkelling though. Beach itself was pretty crowded and the parking lot was full... More

A beautiful, sandy beach with easy snorkelling for beginners and medium swimmers. High surf at times. Suffered from storm end of December, but coming back now (beginning of March).

It's been a couple years since our last visit to Maui, but a perennial favourite for easy access snorkeling is Elua Beach. Best to go in the morning before the afternoon wind creates a bit of a chop. Parking is limited, but easy walking access for anyone staying in the Wailea area.
