The snorkling was a big disappointment. The water was very cloudy and hardly any fish. Go up the road past Makena/Big Beach to a little cove that has great snorkling Ahihi Kinau Nature Preserve. Just beyond it are the lava flows. More

Small beach great for families, has a little shade, tide pools and a nice stretch of reef for casual snorkling. Have been here many times and always find something new in the ocean. If you are really lucky, you might view a sea turtle! But even if you don't, you won't be disappointed. More
