There are better places to snorkel (Honolua and Ahihi) but for easy access (drive right up and drop family before parking), facilities, kid friendly beach and ease of access to the snorkeling area, I think this is the best place on the island. The walking trail that takes off south from here is perfect for my wife. The beach satisfies... More

Loved the snorkeling but a bit crowded at times. The water stayed calm even with the wind. Water was also nice and clear.

We loved this beach. The sand is so soft, even out into the ocean. Our day was hazy so not much luck with fish but a couple turtles were swimming around. There is a lot of lava rock off to the sides for some small tide pools and, on sunny days, great snorkeling. Two showers to rinse off the sand... More

Hoping to see turtles but none to be found. Beautiful coral and colorful fish. Saw a large eel here (yuck).

Great place to spend days on Maui. Bring your own chairs and umbrella and enjoy spectacular views, occasional turtles and fun snorkeling.

My friend and i came here around noon and whats good thing about it is the sand is not that hot. Hell, I even sit on it under the sun without any blanket. The place is clean and not too much crowded. If you're looking for a side-trip and just want to spend a couple of pictures with the beach.... More

Ulua beach is located towards the north of Marriott and it shares a parking lot with Mokapu beach which is located towards the north. We enjoyed our first sunset in Maui here. It is not too crowded, seemingly all the nearby resort crowd goes to wailea beach.

Depending on the time of year, this beach has some great snorkeling. I usually come in Sept or Oct and I've seen a nice variety of sea life. Come early in the morning and the visibility can be awesome, especially if there have not been any storms. Parking is also easily available (and it's just a short walk) if you... More

Beach is very gradual entry with no rocks that i saw, and therefore great for kids or folks trying to get in with snorkel gear for the first time. Very good coral at north end of beach. Fish density average according to one of us and good according to the other. The north end of the beach is quite sheltered... More

Doing some self guided shore scuba dives? Nice sandy beach entry, benches up near the gear drop off area that are set up for scuba divers. Two outdoor showers to rinse your gear off after the dive. Shallow reef with little surge or surf. Great place to start your diving on Maui and shake the cobwebs off. And the beach... More
