It is a bit odd to review a beach, particularly in Maui since all beaches are stunning (minus one which was littered thanks to resort users). ALL of the beaches of South Maui should be explored. However, I hold this one in the highest regards since a short snorkel off the coast led me to see my first sea turtle.... More

At times on weekends, a couple of groups tended to "party" a little hard! But there is still plenty of room for all.

We were married on the north end of this mostly locals beach at sunset. It wasn't crowded, and we had that part of the beach to ourselves. The lava rock and greenery in the background made for gorgeous pictures and a beautiful video!!

A secluded, scenic beach. We got married at the end with the black rocks at the water's edge. Other beach visitors were very respectful of our little beach ceremony. I would definitely choose that beach again if I had to do it over again. Also, a beautiful and quiet place to relax.

We had 70 of our guests here for a BBQ picnic and it was amazing. We had the food catered and picked up. We claimed space early and everyone had a blast. The beach offers low waves most of the time and it's a great place for snorkeling, laying out, horse shoes, walking and lots of other things. We frequent... More

I had an absolutely wonderful snorkeling experience off this beach where I observed two very large green sea turtles. No showers at this beach.

Our family just returned from Maui and while out driving we stumbled upon Palau'ea Beach. It was easily our favorite even without amenities (it does have a very clean port-a-potty). It was never busy and had good boogie boarding waves, was easy to swim in and the beach was amazing. All of our kids (10-16 yrs) loved this beach. It's... More

I hate to admit that this is our favourite beach in Maui because I really don't want to see it become more crowded! It is a favourite spot for locals so Sundays can be crowded but you feel like you are a part of an extended family. If you want beach chair rentals/umbrellas or a place to buy drinks/food, this... Down past Wailea on Makena Road is a pretty beach called Palau'ea Beach (or White Rock Beach). This is an average sized beach that has a beautiful view of the ocean with 2 high rocky outcrops at either end. The water is clear and safe enough for kids and adults. It's a fairly quiet beach with free parking on the... More

In the 1950's I swam and spent a couple weeks with my Aunt there each summer. She was a pioneer in the area then bringing in drinking water and pumping up water for the grounds on the northern point. Great memories that she would let fisherman and their families huki net on the beach, a lost tradition in Hawaii. The... More
